The Rena spill is New Zealand's WORST environmental disaster, with the beaches surrounding Tauranga covered in oil a couple of days ago, but now the clean up has gotten underway most of that is now cleaned up, but there is still a LOT of oil inside the Rena and they are worried about that spilling out tonight because there is supposed to be a big swell and strong winds tonight.
There are 88 containers that have left the Rena and one of those is holding toxic liquid.

I had read this earlier I would have looked for an article to link to about it. I'm too tired right now tho!  I heard about this but I haven't read or heard any details at all. It sounded like it was already a pretty big mess when I heard about it. Anyway, if anyone gets a chance I hope they can copy and paste an article or link. If not, I'll do it later.

Yeah it is New Zealand's biggest ever environmental disaster.
It is all going good at the moment though, no more oil has leaked so that is good news, but when the seas turn rough they are worried that the ship will break in half, but the good thing is that the oil is now secure so hopefully if it does break in half the remainder of oil won't leak.
