The Werewolf Game
Game #918: The Haunted House

This game finished in 8 rounds.
**MOD EDIT**
After a busy first day, you are all sat around the kitchen table, discussing the events. Sweetmama, fills the kettle, and as she reaches for the milk, a cast iron saucepan jumps from the hob, and hits her squarely on the head. She falls to the ground unconscious. Brandon is sitting closest, and jumps up to help her, when the kettle, now boiling, tips and falls all over her, scalding her badly. An ambulance is called and the 2 of them are taken off on a stretcher. The rest of you are now even more determined to find these three ghosts and bring them to justice!
**NOTE: Due to the nature of the program the new round starts several hours after the last wolf votes, this is to protect the identity of the wolves, so it is unlikely that whoever was on line at the time is a wolf.
Back to Writer fighters post:
Well, since the round just started "0 minutes ago", and I saw the only other member of this game on... I am pretty sure I know who one of the wolfies are. Is it ok, if we tell the others who it is? As, if it was back in teh forums we would not know if they wer ea wolfy, as it would be the mod. who would start a new round... Because I truthfully hate it when this happens to me! I will leave it up to you guys to decide... I mean it is kind of cheap and all...
--Oh and the only reason I am voting for myself, is because I did vote for the person, and didnt know if I should, so I changed my vote to myself to hide it...
*EDIT* I just fixed a bit of my grammar... Hehe, I tend to have bad grammar when typing

Because of the "online now" list at the bottom of the website, the end of the night round will be delayed by several hours to prevent players from figuring out who the Werewolves are based on who is online when the round ends.
Writer, thats from the rules. The game delays the start, so it really doesn't matter who was online when the round started.

Oh really? Because whenevr I vote as a wolf... it always starts right away
Im sure that the game hates me

Are you trying to say you are a ghost? (because the round ended when you were online) Just kidding, don't worry.
Its been this way for a while now, I think it changed over in December or some time?

Sorry about my inattentiveness last round. i'll be good now! Promise! Well, I will definitely wait until later to vote, seeing as there are very few posts at the moment.

I was knocking around the talkboxes and forums when the round finally changed and was definitely not making a wolf vote. I was getting a little anxious for the round to change. We all want to know if the wolves ate us. You can see the vote coming your way for hours but you are never quite ready to be eaten when that happens.
I'm afraid Bradon's "vision post" probably got her eaten as possibly the seer. I cringed when I saw it and figured she was doomed, but I sure wasn't going to mention it during discussion. Implying someone may be seer is like a death sentence. It is a very delicate job. I hope she wasn't the seer, but obviousoly the wolves picked up on the post and believed it.
Well, hopefully the next round of clues will give us more to go on.

Bo, even if she was seer, she wouldn't have had a chance to divine me. Seers don't get their first result back until the second day. Even so, I also hope she was not seer, as it would really be a shame to lose our seer this early in the game!

I had the same thought, 'Bo. I think that she was getting into the spirit of things, but her post did make her seem like she was the seer.
Mocha, zonarita pointed out in a previous game that the last round sometimes does start within minutes of the last wolf voting. I know it's supposed to be delayed by several hours, but a few of us have found that it's not always the case.

In my last game as wolf, it was about 45 minutes before it changed rounds. Maybe if zonarita was on line doing things, she just thought it changed right away. Since the time thing was adjusted by Jake, I have seen 40 minutes to an hour and a half. A couple times I swear it changed when I signed back on after an hour away... like it was looking for me to confirm I wanted the vote ~

I suppose it makes it more random if you don't know how long after the vote it's going to start, sometimes seconds, sometimes hours, that could probably narrow our ghoulies down to just about anyone.
Anyhow, I have a little info about the poltergeist I thought I'd share with you, it may be something or nothing, but it's and I quote:

My favorite actor is Kevin Spacey.
I'm not saying Bradon had a chance to check on you Mocha, but I do know the game makes you vote to register who you want to see. Only one person (and the mod) knows if Bradon was the seer. If someone knows differently, they can only know because they are the seer and they don't even want to imply that. It is better for the wolves to "think" they got the seer in my opinion.
I don't know why, but I mix up Kevin Spacek with Patrick Swayze. I thought it was Kevin in the movie Ghost with Whoopi Goldberg. It was Patrick, who I like, but I think he would be a lady's favorite. I think Kevin could be a favorite of both men and women because, after reminding myself of which actor he is, I think he is a very good actor. My favorites would date me (Jimmie Stewart, Gary Cooper, Fess Parker) .. so I guess the poltergeist probably isn't an old guy like me. Who else is? (OK, I don't think it is Randy... )

I have bad memories of the movie Ghost with Whoopi and Patrick Swayze. That was my mothers favorite movie and I remember be subjected to it regularly as a young boy. hmmm... Everyone is so quick in this game that by the time I get on and read the postings everything I wanted to point out has already been done. I don't have much to add. Being as this is only my second werewolf game I didn't think twice of Brandon's vision comment until now. I sure hope they were not the seer.

Kevin Spacey huh? That's pretty interesting. He's been in some good movies and played a lot of different characters. The Negotiator, The Usual Suspects, American Beauty (which I haven't seen yet), K-PAX... I wouldn't think of him as being a young person's favorite, so the poltergeist may be past their teens.
Writer fighter could be playing the "I'm guilty but if I accuse someone of the same thing really quick, I'll look like I'm being helpful" card. However, I wouldn't base a vote on that because a lot of people are still unsure about the night timing issue.
I can't imagine that brandon was the seer. Generally, the seer tries to remain hidden. Her wording was odd, but I think that was just having fun and not meant to be taken as a sign.
I'll see what else comes up.

Thanks bo for not considering me the poltergeist - or is that poultrygeist? I truly am not any of them, but I also know only time and the end of the game will prove that out.
Kevin did a good job in "pay it forward (I think that was the title)" with Mad About you Hunt and I see Ghosts kid. I liked that movie, but sort of felt the kid should not have died in the end - though it sure made for a tear jerking moment, and sort of a copy of Field of Dreams ending. The makeup on Kevin was awesome. I kept thinking he had burns on his face.
Edit - now just because I said he did a good job in this movie, he is not on my favorite list. I love to watch movies with John Wayne and James Stewart. Gary Cooper in Sargeant York or in the autobiography of the Iron Man... awesome acting! Sorry bo, I am not really a Fess Parker fan, though he sure knew how to kill a bear didn't he?

Oh thats who he is, thanks, Randy, for mentioning a movie I have actually seen Hehehe, yeah, I know who he is, if I was forced to pick a fav., thats not who I would end up picking (people who know me well know I don't know actors names or really know much about them once I do know their name, so they would understand the comment about having to pick one if I was asked)

I happen to think Morgan Freeman is the best actor out there, even though he always seems to get "supporting actor" roles. He was great in "Shawshank Redemption" and "Seven", which I think is one of the most underrated movies out there.

I wouldn't have chose him either. I would have said Clint Eastwood/Harrison Ford. It would be hard for me to choose between the two as the best actor and I couldn't choose a favorite between them, I like both to much as actors.

Even though Kevin Spacey is a talented actor, he is not my favorite. I have several favorites that I will watch for new movies to have them in. One is Tom Hanks and another is Morgan Freeman. I also enjoy Will Smith in a good movie.
As far as losing our Seer, I hope we haven't because we seem to need all the help we can get. But, it's still pretty early in the game, so hopefully we will discover who these pesky ghosts are. Since there is still plenty of time left before the vote is due, I'm going to wait and do a little searching to see if the name Kevin Spacey comes up anywhere.

Johnny Depp is my favorite actor.
I live surrounded by Angels
I love words and word play.
I love words and word play.
These are both clues for the Grey Lady.
I have to be honest that I love words and anything that has to do with words and writing and this is pretty common knowledge since I've said it about a million times all over the site. However, there are a few others here that I know have a love of words, so I'm not alone on this one! Also, the first clue doesn't fit me in any way at all.
So, who here besides me has a love of words? I know of at least 3 who have voiced this but do not want to point fingers...
So, dutchy - was I correct in that we have not been successful at shooting a ghost in our first round?
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

Awesome. The Grey Lady sounds like my kind of ghost.
As a wordsmithy kind of gal myself, I can appreciate the sentiment. I also appreciate the wordplay in froggy's teasers and quizzes, and zonahobo's teasers. Zonohobo has submitted a lot of riddles, which rely on wordplay. Likewise, froggy's teasers are primarily language, rebuses and riddles (the ones I've seen anyway). So, I'm looking to one of these two as a potential Grey Lady. I'll reserve my vote for the moment, but my vote is likely to go to one or the other this round.

Once again, I'll be honest, I love words. I want to be a lexicographer when I grow up. I don't really know who to vote for. But, we have 26 hours, so I can wait a bit.
Well, I've made no attempt to hide my admiration of words, especially when the ladies talk wordy to me ( ..have I wore that one out yet?). Since wolves, as a general rule, attempt to obfuscate their clues, I am inclined to think it is possibly someone who we would be surprised to learn that they harbor a secret passion for words. It could be someone who enjoys reading very much and may relish observing more than actively participating in the slathering on of words. Brits, particularly, seem to enjoy a turn of the word in my experience. Some of us are more obsessed than others in entertaining ourselves with our eloquence. However, in a social activity like this, totally dependent on words for interaction, I venture to say most of us are at least secret admirers of words.
So, if the purpose of the wolf was to spread a little suspicion around the human environs of the game, this clue seems to accomplish that end "if" that was the intent of the Grey Lady.
It does intrigue me though.
The following players list reading and/or writing as a major interest on their public page or have posted they do love words and word play.

Smeraldina (post, and we knew that.. )
Sunrose

I'll admit I love to read (not much of an admission, as its public knowledge and Bo has already pointed it out), and there are days where I cannot rest until I've written down my thoughts in a poem, but to say I love words? Hmmm. I think I would be more likely to say I love the languages and cultures that the words make up and represent.

Oh, there's another one to put on me. I even dabble in writing some of my own songs and have had many say I should consider a solo career... or maybe they wanted me to sing so low they can't hear me. My voice has been described as Dylanesque. (as in Bob Dylan .. ) ..

I LOVE singing. I do it more out of the shower than in the shower though.....I've written my own songs. Sorry. I'm a very honest person.
Post from Smeraldina deleted on 2008-06-25 15:21:49.
I wonder why a post from Smer was deleted? Odd.
Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of words or wordplay. Sure, I enjoy reading, but words are a means to an end (that end being imagination). Regardless, the answers being given are quite common. I think it'll be hard to narrow the vote down based on the answers. I will need to review the discussion more.

Well, I do love to sing but do not sing in the shower because I usually take my shower when sgt is already in bed and I do believe it would wake him up! Also, my singing would not be limited to the shower (which as stated, I don't do) because I was a member of two groups/bands in my younger years and had a blast! I also sing all around the house, the yard, and the car when I'm listening to certain songs that I love.
Sorry dina, but I'm not the Grey Lady or either of the other two ghosts. Although I guess I could be a grey lady if I didn't rely on a small box of dye!
I think Bo might have a good point: "Since wolves, as a general rule, attempt to obfuscate their clues, I am inclined to think it is possibly someone who we would be surprised to learn that they harbor a secret passion for words." This clue really does spread around the suspicion to many of us here.
Since there is still plenty of time before the vote, I'm waiting to see what those who have not posted have to say. We still need another clue from dutchy on our kitchen poltergeist as well.

I don't read as much as I did when I was a teenager, though I have been known to be "wordy" in my writings. I am not good at word play though, I am lucky to get a 5 letter word when playing Scrabble. My mind freezes up. Wrote a book once... never went beyond editing it though and seeing about getting it published. I guess it's still on my mind to look into it.

The random facts don't seem to be much help. I sing along in the car when there's something good on the radio or there's a good cd in, but that's about it...no shower singing.
Froggy - we've gotten the three random facts for this round (Kevin Spacey, wordplay, and singing) so I don't think there's another one coming.
Tommy - I don't see a deleted post from Smeraldina...where are you looking?
RGW4 - I was in the process of defending myself against your accusation last round, but as I was making my post Tommy made his vote which ended the round, so I wasn't able to post it. You were pretty quick to accuse mocha and I after 1 round of mostly chit-chat...Care to elaborate? I know this means nothing to you all but I don't fit a single answer given by the wolves, and it seems to me like you're trying to stir up suspicion.
Edit: Never mind Tommy, I see the deleted post now.

To be honest, Randy, I forgot they were 24 hour rounds, and was afraid of missing the end of day while working. I know, not good excuse, I was a bit out of it, trying to do this darned reading for grad school. Always a bad sign when the professor tells you the whole reading is relatively unintelligible, and we will have a difficult time reading it! I had some suspicions last round, and wanted them to be heard before the end of the round.

Heading into the eleventh hour, I only see one vote for writer. So, I'm going to bite the bullet and cast a vote for zonahobo. Feel free to dispute or affirm as y'all please.
I am going to think on it.
Hopefully I will have a chance to vote when I come back from the paper route before heading back out to work. The press had some problems so the papers are going to be late this morning.
EDIT: 13 hours to go before the voting round ends.

Made your bed, now lay in it....But you can always add a bedside table, change the sheets, take out the trash...it doesn't have to stay the same unless you want it to.

Well, I respect Dina's ability to help humans find their wolves when she is human. I only get nervous about her when she is still around after a couple of rounds because I know wolves are prone to eliminate her right away if she is human. She is suspicious of me for the same clues that would make her look suspicious. I wouldn't want to see us humans loose a good player like Dina. If she is in the game too long, then I would watch out for her.
I am going to go with my suspicion of AnimalMagie. Not only do the Grey Lady clues fit her, she didn't vote at all when most of us were eliminating Sweetmama with no real contention for other players. I wouldn't be surprised if none of the wolves voted for Sweetmama. Why would they? We humans were taking care of their work for them. She seems to be holding back on input that would help the game.
I think I have good reason to put my vote on her. I hope Dina can put a little more thought into her decision. I am not a wolf and as a human, if she is a human, we need her talents to help us catch some wolves.

Actually, statistically speaking, that hasn't happened very often. I can see where you would think that wolves would get me out of the game in a hurry, but more often, I'm left in the game for quite a while. I'm usually shot and seldom eaten.
I can understand wanting to lay the foundation for casting doubt on me, since I've voted for you. In this case, though, my record doesn't really back you up.

Bo, you really seem to be setting the frame work to shoot Dina later, or be suggesting to your fellow wolves to eat her soon. Your post really didn't settle well with me. My vote, unless something else comes up in the next few hours, is for Bo. I enjoy playing the game with you, but I just don't like the way you are setting Dina up.

*sigh* Finally, I got on the computer! I missed my turn yesterday since I was gone...:grumble:
Well, I don't really know who to vote for... Those clues could fit so many people. I think I'll rescan the posts and decide. I am so sorry that I didn't come on yesterday!
Edit: So... After reading the posts again, I guess that will abstain from voting... again... Because I just am bad like that. Hopefully we get better clues next round.
Edit2: Is this color too light?

Oh boy... it is the mocha-dina double-whammy! (Sounds like a starbucks drink.. ) .. with a double shot of expresso!
This is probably the point in a game when almost everyone seems like a wolf. Usually, at the end of the game you learn that the humans were after each other and the wolves were just panting in the background. Mocha also fits the clues pretty well but I don't really feel a wolf vibe from her unless Dina and Mocha are both wolves. I don't think that is likely because her "defense" of Dina is too obvious for a sneaky wolf.
Still, I can be an easy target because they both know I don't take games personally and try to have as much fun as possible. We have a couple hours left, but I feel I have two girlillas on my back!
I really was trying to compliment Dina and explain why I didn't just want to retaliate and vote for her. Sorry it didn't settle well Mocha. At least we have a large spread of candidates to fire this round instead of a pile of .. votes on one.

OK, made it back on with a few hours to spare in the round. Have some reading to catch up on, but will post a vote before the round ends.

Since it is now getting down to the wire, I'm going to vote for who my suspicions was with in the last round before I changed it to sweetmama. I'm voting for Sunrose because of the clue about a large family and I'm sure I read something in the forums where she was talking about a huge family reunion. She also didn't post in that round anything about her family like everyone else did, which I find a bit "wolfy". She also lives in the mountains which could apply to being surrounded by angels. Not much, but more than I have toward anyone else.

I'm going to vote for AnimalMage and let the computer decide (assuming that no one else casts a majority vote). I don't have a strong feeling one way or the other about zonahobo, who may very well be a wolf. However, AnimalMage is from Utah, which has quite the religious following which in turn could prompt the Angels comment. Also, she says she likes writing, so that would fit the word thingy.
So, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

With no suspicions strong enough to cast the deciding vote, I will vote for sapphireduck. Nothing really strong against her either, except she readily admits that many of the clues fit her.

This dinged something for me, and I now what it is now. In the current Spy Academy games, one of the players comments that he sings too, but only in the shower. That player is RGW4. I'll dig up what round it was when I have more time, but it was in response to me providing the alphabet key for one of the codes.
Now, i don't know that there is any significance to this particular coincidence. It could be a set up, it could be completely unrelated, or it could be RGW4 hoping one of the Spy Gamers will notice this and think it is a set-up.
I'm surprised that RGW4 didn't bring it up himself, though before someone else did, since there are a few folks in this game following that one.
EDIT: It was in Round 5 of the Spy Academy II game.

Love to sing, but mostly in the shower... somehow, I think that would take this game out of the G rating if we moved on that! ok...ok... I get the point, ABCDEF..... BUT I see a triangle in the original one and not in the code above... looking like a sad message... give me time, maybe I can make heads or tails of it

AHHH, I forgot to check this game first thing this morning and now there is only half an hour left.... I have been so busy and focused on filling out applications that I completely forgot to even keep up on reading. It looks like my vote might be a deciding vote. I am going to read some of the stuff I haven't read yet before making a decision. I will vote before the end of the round I just need to figure out for who.
K, why sunrose?
