Duffus Mcclutski, having way too much spare time on his hands, decided to train the ducks in his pond. When Duffus held up a dark blue card, the ducks swam to the right; and when he held up a dark red card, they swam to the left. His neighbour, Mr. Redneck, was quite impressed - though he was also impressed by Duffus's used tea bag collection.
"Your ducks are well trained, not as well trained as my dogs, but well trained," boasted Mr. Redneck, for he was almost expert at training dogs and had won many awards.
"I'll bet you $100 that you can't train your dogs to move left to right or right to left, using only these cards," challenged Duffus!
"You're on!" said Mr. Redneck.
"Now, no talking or other signals in any way, or the bet is off. Just raise the dark red for right and in the same hand the dark blue for left."
Mr. Redneck agreed and had 3 weeks to train one of his dogs, yet he couldn't get any of his dogs to respond properly. Frustrated, Mr. Redneck paid Duffus.
Now Duffus was not normally a betting man. Why was he so sure he could win?
