General Custer is surrounded by Indians and he's the only cowboy left.
He finds an old lamp in front of him and rubs it. Out pops a genie. The genie grants Custer one wish, with a catch. He says, "Whatever you wish for, each Indian will get two of the same thing."
Custer ponders a while and thinks:"If I get a bow and arrow they get two. If I get a rifle they get two!" He then rubs the bottle again and out pops the genie. "Well," the genie asks "have you made up your mind?"
What did Custer ask for to help him get away?

lol, Great Teaser!
How about to be scared half to death.
I was thinking with Fasil.
I also thought of Fasil's answer. Good one though.
I also like Fasils answer, even still I love the teaser. I think the glass eye would have had a much more humourous result than everyone just dropping dead... can you picture it... they couldn't ;P .
On the other hand, if they all had glass eyes they ARE still able to kill you, via a lucky shot.
puzzled_puzzler, it doesn't ask what can MAKE him get away safely, it's asking what can HELP him get away safely. Oh, and sunnyfunny, you shouldn't post comment's like that, it might get removed. Gr8 teaser.
Jun 02, 2003
I thought it was that he asked for a second wish without the catch... Only because the Genie pops out in the beginning and then he's popping out again... That would give the Indians 2 wishes without a catch but then the Indians would run scared thinking it was some sort of sign from the gods !! LOL
Did I put tooooo much thought into this ??? ya think!
Did I put tooooo much thought into this ??? ya think!
Or what about having half of his body being paralysed for a few hours?
I would say he should of wished for a cowboy. Then each indian would have two cowboys to deal with. Fun teaser.
he could also ask the genie to scare him HALF to death!!!
i thought of a mild heart attack and the answer should be to have one eye replaced by a glass one because he could just hold it but it was good
I got the answer w/o much power used, but THIS WAS COOOL!!!
Its really funny, because my 10 year odl sister thought of this... She said if he wishes for another cowboy, for each indian two cowboys would appear. Just thought I'd throw that in
....sORrRy, Wrong teaser. I DIDN'T get this one. But its still Cool!
He could ask for a day to rest and get a full day's head start on the Indians.
what about a kidney failure?
How about a Mother-In-Law?
How about remove one of his lungs? Then the indians would die of suffucation of no air.
Alrighty, so it looks like everyone's got the gist of the concept of the answer here ;). I am finding some of these extra answers rather amusing I must admit.. Tissue - tsk tsk! I love my mother-in-law ;). He could ask for one hand to be handcuffed
I think that Brainjelly had a better answer
Jun 15, 2003
I thought of the wish for a cowboy too.
Ingenious! ;)
Good Teaser, I thought he asked the genie for a pile of rocks to fall on him
He could always wish to sit through an opera.
GOOD TEASER!! like others i dint get the answer but came up with my own theory. He could wish for a broken leg, its still possible to get away wiv a broken leg. If the indians had two, it would be tooo much pain for them. oh wel i know what i mean!!
i agree with brainbelly. i was also thinking the same thing before reading the answer. why not wish for a cowboy to help him get away?
I like it just the way it is - it made me giggle to start my day, thanks.
Okay, since I read a joke with the same idea once, where the guy gets three wishes, but his arch enemy gets two times what he got, I went with the joke guys third wish...Beat me half to death. Oops, a tad morbid, but the joke was funny... Liked the teaser though.
Cheesy. this is not a teaser...it's a joke--the original joke is about getting beat half to death.
Awesome teaser! I thought it was just that he was blind in one eye!
Oh, and Witness, don't be rude!
Oh, and Witness, don't be rude!
i love brainjelly's answer!! this was a really great teaser!! it was too hard for me, but still really great!! good job!
I found the comments more enjoyable than the teaser itself. Oh, by the way, Custer could wish for one leg iron and a lake with four feet of water. The Indians would get 2 irons and eight feet of water. Custer could slowly walk out of the lake, but the Indians would drown.
Well I was thinking he could ask for "50 more people to help him." because it never said that the Indians get 2 TIMES more than him, it just said that they got "2 of the same thing". So I guess he could ask for 50 people and they would only get 2 more
i thought it was cowboy also
Yeah... A Cowboy would be good.
omg that was GREAT!! i wuz thinkin sumthin along tha line of like, one concrete shoe or sumthin... but urz wuz awesome!! oh and tissue, that wuz hilarious!!!
mother-in-law indeed!! lol
Old joke....but nice job turning it into a teaser.
Too, too many possibilities....good idea, bad execution....
Very funny twist to the old genie joke to give it and Custer new life! I liked the variation .. too late for Custer though..
I loved that one. favourite one so far! but i thought he would have wished for a cowboy then the cowboys the indians get are on his side. Hang that's stupid!
i was thinking "a bear trap stuck to his leg"...i suppose there are loads of answers to this. but still, fun teaser!
Great teaser & great comments!
I Wondered why there was a sudden flood of comments, then I saw it was teaser of the day. LOL.
Thanks for all the nice comments .
Thanks for all the nice comments .
I was trying to think of something to encapsulize them (not kill them). Maybe half a jail cell, he can walk out of his. Way to much thinking this early, good teaser.
Cute! Made me laugh!
CLAP CLAP CLAP! I laughed out loud! Thanks for a good start to my day!
This is Great!!!
Does he need to wish for an object? How about, "I wish I was moved two miles east?" That would put the Indians two miles away from him and he could keep his eye! Whoever said earlier this teaser was bad because it had too many answers is wrong- it just makes it more fun!
'A broken leg' was my answer.
Very good
i liked it COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL
andrewjsmith...what the heck is this crap above me?
that werent a teaser. that werent even a joke. i think fill must have either been drunk or sleeping when he wrote this.i dont mean to be rude but, come on, a GLASS EYE! : :
That was good... I thought he wished to be scared half to death.... but a glass eye works too......
I heard a joke like thatm except every lawyer in the world got one- and the guy said he'd always wanted to donate a kidney...lol
OMG-I CANT BELIEVE EVERYONE GOT THAT. I WAS SO CONFUSED BUT HEY ITS A FUN AND CLEVER ONE!
another answer would be, bad luck.
a glass eye was better though. loved the teaser the first full happy face I have EVER given.
a glass eye was better though. loved the teaser the first full happy face I have EVER given.
btw: the only comment that I loled, was redneck womans.
I also liked "half dead" but glass eye works too.
BTW, Custer was a soldier not a cowboy.
BTW, Custer was a soldier not a cowboy.
Good teaser! I agree with brainjelly.
Good teaser! I agree with brainjelly.
That is a very good brainteaser, very funny too.
Its a good teaser...i agree with fasil's answer.. .. keep it up!! A great idea!!!!
Wow great teaser!
Note to people: I noticed at the top, somebody was telling somebody else not to say something because it will get deleted anyways.
Well, guess what I just discovered last month?
I can report bad comments! Woohoo! I can clean up the braingle world!
ANYWAYS.... THAT WAS SUCH A GREAT TEASER!!!!! AAAAUUUUGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...eheh...... I thought he was going to ask for a non-movable wooden leg.

uuummm..... does anybody else here have that feature? Can anybody here tell me why before it was "this is a negative comment" and now it says "this is offensive"??
Anybody? Hello?
*sigh*
Man I wish I could come up with teasers that greight. oh wait... *great. I did get one through, but it sucks. May I ask you a few questions?
1: Whats the best type of teaser?
2: How many teasers have you submitted?
3: Do you think they should allow you to put drawings into your teaser, so people could make "visual" teasers?
4: How many points do you have?
5: Ever played a fun little message board game?
6: Why on earth is your teaser so amazingly great?
7: What else should I ask you?

lol i would have never thought of that!! Very clever
lol i would have never thought of that!! Very clever
Kinda of seemes like a kids joke to me, have to be more creative!!
I was also thinking of wishing for 1 cowboy, so the Indians each get 2 cowboys to deal with.
great teaser, especially because of all the different answers. i am new to this site so if anyone has any pointers, i'd love 'em.
Trickster, if you click on someones name it tells you most of those things, and Ayelk it's easy to criticise when you haven't submitted a teaser yourself
I was thinking of a cowboy, too. But a glass eye is much more funny! Great teaser!
Fun teaser. Don't care if it's from an old joke. I like how many answers work also. Such as, 'to have one foot in the grave.' Sorry. Fasil's seems to be best for Custer.
what is the deal with all of the repeats?????
Nice, but I agree that there is more than one answer.
I like brainjelly's answer.
I like brainjelly's answer.
I like brainjelly's answer.
I like brainjelly's answer.
i got it after a while, good one!

two glass eyes!!! that's funny!!!
Okay, then! Clever indeed.
I'm sorry but this was lame... and I agree with Fasil and witness... this is based on a joke where the wisher wishes to be scared half to death...
NOT MUCH OF A "TEASER," BUT CUTE.
Cool.
Nice one! Hilarious!
This one or a derivative of it is probably as old as Gen. Custer. It's funny as it is. Good answer. It looks like you out did the masses with this one.
I liked this teaser very much! It was cute and appealed to all ages young and old. I think BABYBABE1 can keep her negative and offensive comments to herself! I'm eagerly awaiting her teaser!
I have to agree with Imurray. Cute joke but not much of a teaser.
a bottle of booze would work
Comments sure do get out of hand. I think this is a joke, but what does a Scot know of cowboys and Indians. But it was funny.
Who keep playing with these comment.
Who keep playing with these comment.
This was a really fun teaser, and I like all the additional solutions posed here in the comments, too! My first guess would be an hour's sleep. Then, the Indians would be asleep for another hour, while Custer (being rested) could get away unnoticed. He'd keep his eye, and wouldn't endanger the lives of any cowboys... Still, I give this one five stars!!*****
I would wish for an American Soldier.
So many possible answers but the glass eye answer is funny! Good wake up, get your brain going, fun!
Thanks!
Thanks!
There are hundreds of possible answers if you think about it. He could have wished himself half dead, to be half lame, to have partial memory loss, how about wishing for an american soldier. the possibilities are very intriguing.

Yeah, that's pretty good, although it's on a thin line between a joke and a teaser, but I guess still a teaser. Custer wasn't really a "cowboy", he WAS an American Soldier. He was in the military. I don't know where this cowboy notion came from. Except that you always hear about "cowboys and Indians".
Racist? I don't know. The Indians did win the last one with him. But if I was Native American I might not be very happy about this. Yes, I know, "it's just a teaser, blah blah blah" Fine, but like I said, maybe IF I was "just" an "Indian" I wouldn't like it much.

I thought he would ask for a wife!
cool & clever teaser.
Custer didn't ask for one of his eyes to be replaced with a glass eye, so wouldn't the indians just be holding 2 glass eyes, with their normal ones still in their sockets? Then they could throw them @ him and he would die from severe injuries to the head. Nice scenario, isn't it?
I thought he asked for a day of blindness...
Fun teaser.
Fun teaser.
The person 2 above me has a good point, but it was really funny!
The comments are definitely as amusing as the teaser itself!
I must be very morbid or sick, I thought he should wish one of his hands would fall off. Then the Indians would lose both hands. Bloody mess. What was I thinking? Any way, I liked your answer better thanmine, or anybody elses for that matter. Keep up the good work.
That's hilarious! I was thinking along the lines of 1 broken leg or to be shot in 1 knee.
Loved this fun teaser!
Umm, Custer didn't get away, remember? Whatever he wished for it didn't work.
2 be scared half 2 death
So many comments, some good, some not so good. I thought this one was another real groaer. Funny, enjoyable, whether it was a rewritten joke or whatever. The answer was a hoot! Nice job. As for racist, this is a fun family site and if you can't laugh at yourself then you don't belong here I don't like the poorly shortened reference in that particular quotation. How did this slip by without someone else objecting? Keep it clean folks!
this really was a joke
tho i heard it a couple times and it was normally something along the lines of
a ___ man found a lamp and rubbed it
a --- genie came out and went u get 3 wishes but whatever u wish for my race gets 2
so the man ask for a car a mansion and then to be beaten half to death
its a mean joke but ive heard like atleast 3 different races use it so it evens out right?

i didn't get it but other people probably did . i thought it was boring. sorry
Vierma - again I agree with you. GREAT MINDS!
You are right, Kweestyaye got away with something way over the edge. I wanted to report the comment to "the authorities" whoever and wherever they are, but I couldn't figure out how.

that was a cool teaser, i got similar answer, i said one blind eye, it was a good teaser though
i thought for a broken leg. Oh well! good answer.
COOOOOOOL, That was funny and cute Made my day, nice going.
oh em geez tht was the best teaser i've read so far excellent job!!
I saw this one on this site last summer but enjoyed seeing it again. Liked it then and like it now.
Two thumbs Up!
that was the best one i have read!!!!!!!!! it was so so so funny and good... dunno why but i said a half.. so each indian would get a "hole" n' fall... idk... im retarted!!!!!!!! lmao.... pm me peeps!!!
I agree with Kweestyaye and when are we going to learn, it's Native American not Indians. Gosh
I thoght it was to be able to leave, so if he left the Indians would leave, and then leave again....
Jun 08, 2006
is that a brainteaser or a joke?
I liked the 'cowboy' answer better than 'half to death' one. However my answer was to wish to be, say, 50 miles away!
ewwwwwwwww
i sure didn't see that one comming.
it was fun anyway.
it was fun anyway.
My guess was somewhat less permanent. I had him ask for one hand tied behind his back.
Fasil's wrong anyway. If you were to be scared half to death twice, you'd be left with a quarter of yourself.
so you lose one eye but all the indians lose both of their eye? bizzare
This one was too silly for me. Anyway Custer wasn't a cowboy he was military man.
Hilarious teaser and great comments to boot!
I, like some others though of a broken leg....very good teaser! Just because there are other possible answers doesnt mean its a bad teaser, just keeps ya on your toes! I loved it!
I went with "cowboy" - and liked the "scared 1/2 to death" suggestion - but definitely a good one.
I've heard the exact same thing before, only the answer was a broken leg. nice teaser
you call that a teaser?cmon peaple get real......
doehead - you really come across as a mean spirited person - do you ever actually have anything nice to say?
Oh a lot of fun PhilDunphy?
I thought of striking hime blind
and then running like stink. It's sound even sillier written down. But close with the eyes.
When I saw the answer I cracked up. EXCELLENT

that was so coooooooool
I would have wished for one cowboy surrounding each indian, therefore there would be three surrounding each indian. Checkmate!
My , what a lot of comments ! Nice to see people discussing this teaser, I guess it means we are still thinking.
gjood one!
Fun teaser I'd have to disagree with the others that said "to be scared half to death". The Indians would just be scared half to death twice. I've been scared half to death many times. I think he really had to ask for someTHING. BTW, I like the "wife" answer, too - or maybe "mother-in-law"...
That one was kinda confusing but I
adventually got it after a little while. My friend got it right away she called me dumb
.....I am not really dumb the teaser was confusing
adventually got it after a little while. My friend got it right away she called me dumb

that is not a fair question since there are so many other answers possible.
COOL TEASER! IHAD TO PEEK AT THE ANSWER VERY CLEVER
I was thinking he would ask for "a wooden leg". They would all get two, and he could get away faster.
Good teaser, but there's too many other possibilities that work.
Jun 07, 2007
I would have said "Beat me half to death".. Duh!
I thought it was funny. I didn't get it right but I got a good laugh. Loosen up people it was just a game.
I thought the same as jelly brain!! great teaser, really funny too
I want to add my voice to the people bringing up the fact that Custer was not a cowboy, he was a soldier. Also, he was not a general, as stated in the question, he was a lieutenant colonel. He was temporarily a brigadier general during the Civil War, but this was a temporary rank that was rescinded at the end of the war. At the time of his death, he was, as I said, a lieutenant colonel.
doehead, last time I checked. comments were not used to slam or diss other people. It's to praise or to criticize in a nice manner. Yes you can tell the truth, but do it respectively!
Oh, && AWESOME teaser by they way! I loved it! But I too thought that he wished to be beat half to death!
I thought bullets (Custer used guns, Indians used bow & arrow so bullets would be useless). Either way a bad teaser with too many possible answers.
I thought I had it right away when I said he should wish for another soldier of course! I had to laugh at the answer. Good one!
The possibilities are endless, especially if you get to see the same teaser every other year
OMG!! I MADE THIS UP LIKE A YEAR AGO!! YOU JUST CHANGED A FEW THINGS! I POSTED THIS ON THE FORUMS ALSO, A COUPLE OF PLACES, A LITTLE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO!
ALL YOU DID WAS CHANGE THE SITUATION!
I ALSO COPYRIGHTED THIS WORK TO.
PLEASE NEXT TIME WHEN YOU COPY SOMETHING, ASK THE WRITER/PUBLISHER!

Won't do a bit of good if they are all holding a glass eye in their hands...no one ever said the glass eyes would replace their existing eyes. And I wouldn't get so hot and bothered about being "plagerized" I'm betting the "original" was just as lame.
The answer wasn't too good. I've heard many variations on this riddle, and my favorite answer by far is a 100 degree temperature.

good teaser by the way!!!
Unless I missed time travel being invented. this was posted in 2003!
good teaser by the way!!!
Its so much fun coming up with all kinds of silly answers. Great teaser!!
I went with the cowboy too.
If they Indians got scared half to death, then half to death again, they'd still be 25% alive!
The half-to-deaths would have to be simultaneous and not overlap
The half-to-deaths would have to be simultaneous and not overlap
LOL Noice teaser ;-) I guess there's plenty possible answers :-)
Theres like, a gazillion answers to this... My friend told me this one before, but his answer was "I wish to donate a kidney." His sounds more reasonable.
I said "a broken leg."
Zaya, the Native Americans that Custer fought actually had better guns than his soldiers, one of the many reasons for his loss.
I had the same thought Sweet Potato
How about "I wish I were 100 miles away from you?"
clever...and fun...the question is more fun thatn the answer though...actually...there are many possibilities
yes, yes there are. i thought he wished to be blind in one eye?!?! i was close though. Great teaser!
complete genius!Great one!
This was a Wonderful Teaser, and so many comments, but there is only one perfect answer to this teaser.
I of course got the perfect Answer. That is: A Day of Rest....
A Cowboy trained to kill Indians. He would have ONE day of Rest, giving the Indians TWO days of Rest. He would get One Cowboy trained to Kill Indians and each Indians would have to fend off TWO cowboys trained to kill Indians.
Excellent Teaser. I just wished he could have created a different subject matter and not Indians.

Jack and Jill went up a hill, oops that's old just like the teasers .
I was thinking he wanted to be a mile away from the place. That would place him at least a mile away from any indian.
I second shannmo. Tissue and Trickster, you guys are hilarious. I thought of the broken leg thing but I like the answer that he wishes for a cowboy better.
LOL, Good teaser, old joke. Gen. Custer was a General, not a cowboy.
That glass eye answer is bad. I thought of wishing for a cowboy too, that answer is much much better.
i dont get it.....at all....
Meh. Too many possibilities. Plus I don't understand why Custer's in India.
This is an old one with a new variation. Custer was a General, but not considered a cowboy. Any way I can see why there are so many repeats. Not enough people try their hand at it because of all the bad comments. If I was younger, I would try!
The version I know - in a rich neighborhood a person gets an offer from e Wizard : .. anything you want provided your next-to-door neighbors get double what you've got...
Your version is less "politically correct"
Your version is less "politically correct"
Not only does the creator of this teaser claim it as their own, but there are several commenters that claim the teaser was stolen from them ("I made it up over a year ago") - well funny how a teaser that is only a few years old was told to me 30 years ago! lol
Of course the characters have been changed the one I heard featured a man and his bitter soon to be ex wife and and he got three wishes. After wising for great wealth and expensive "toys" he asked to be scared half to death, not only ensuring his coming out on the winning end of the divorce, but as her legal husband, most likely inheriting all the things she just obtained too.
I did not care for this teaser, never have even in the versions past as there are WAY too may possible answers. I am surprised the editors allowed this to pass, I have had teasers rejected for that reason even when in reality there was only 1 answer.

This is so old and over used, my only comment is YUK.
I would have asked for a platoon of federal army soldiers.
Fun comments, many possible answers. Me likey.
Not sure if anyone has already said-- A 4 hour nap
I said "a broken arm".
How about a strong desire for peace?
The Indians' would then have a doubly strong desire and they'd all live happily ever after
The Indians' would then have a doubly strong desire and they'd all live happily ever after
Wow! No wonder there are only a couple of us playing anymore. Too much bickering. It does have a lot of answers, and as old as it is there are always some who have not seen it before. If it is too old, for you, just mumble to yourself and quit your griping!
Pretty good, and I liked the answer. However, there are way too many other answers that would work. That said, still makes you think, making it a good teaser.
Fun and entertaining teaser; I did not get it - my answer was "two blind eyes" which would also work.
Sorry; I made a mistake in my previous comment - should be "One Blind eye".
I don't get this.
what about being half dead
Really love this. But I support asking for two cowboys for each Indiana
How about a stubbed big toe.
As "Dsjt" commented: a platoon of federal soldiers.
