Brain Teasers
The Mountain Climber
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
An explorer was halfway up a mountain when he slipped and lost his grip. After the slip he was mysteriously at the peak of the mountain. If he was halfway up the mountain when he slipped how could he have ended up at the top?
Hint
Where do you fall up...?Answer
It was an underwater mountain that he was actually climbing down. Natural buoyancy made him float to the top of the mountain.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

Clever teaser!
Great one!
Thank you
Well done. You had me stumped good with this one.
if he was climbing DOWN the mountain, shouldn't he be halfway DOWN the mountain as well (not up)? good teaser, though. the wording made it very tricky.
Bluetwo, I thought that as well at FIRST, but now that I realise it, the glass being half empty and half full are really the same things eh?? Same with this. ^_^ ... Good teaser! Could even be in the trick category.
bluetwo - it's like that good old nursery rhyme, the grand old duke of york, he had ten thousand men, he marched them up to the top of the hill, and he marched them down again. when he was up he was, and when he was down he was down, but when he was only halfway up, he was neither up nor down...
oh... i thought it was a high mountain and he fell to the top of another mountain...
I thought he was on an exhalator. You know those moving stairs.
