Innocent Man
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.
A man, who is a citizen of the United States and is completely innocent of the crime he is being questioned for in the police interrogation, walks out of the room and is consequentially sent to jail. How can an innocent man be sent to jail if the cops know he's not guilty?
Answer
U.S. law mandates that anyone on parole who walks out of a police interrogation be sent to jail for 30 days, regardless of his innocence in the crime.

| There are many possible answers to this teaser... I was led to believe that he confessed to a different crime than the one he was being questioned for. That wod work too, wouldn't it? |

| I guessed the man in question worked at the jail, so he was just going back to work after taking some time off for questioning. |

| Perhaps you could have mentioned that the man had been in jail before, or was on parole...
Seems like we needed just a bit more information; otherwise, it could have numerous solutions. |

| I don't think it matters if you were in jail before, or on parole, or anything. You can't just walk out if you are in a police station being questioned for a crime.
Although I thought he was sent to jail to talk to another person about the crime. A 'buddy' maybe. |

| (excluding the parole provision) unless you're under arrest for a crime, you're always free to leave during an interrogation/questioning/investigation - i decided that it was just 'coz the police were nasty |

| How did they let this get into "trick"? This isn't even a brainteaser, becasue it's just the application of trivial trivia. But good anyway! |

| This is not a trick teaser in any sense of the word. this should be moved to trivia. There's no misdirection, and no one outside of the US would know the answer. Don't forget that you have a multitude of readers outside your country. |

| I liked it. Another reason why people should just have common sense and not get angry. Good teaser |
