8 + 8 = 91?
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.
How can you make the following equation correct without changing it at all?
8 + 8 = 91
Answer
Look at it upside down.
16 = 8 + 8.

| ymiroc, you're not turning it upside down, you're just LOOKING at it upside down, so therefore not changing the equation.
Nice teaser. |

| I thought it would be to turn the "=" sign around so it looked like a multiplication sign. I figured that I wasn't changing it, but merely reorienting the characters in the equation...turns out your answer was better and more clever! At least I was thinking about rotating the [part of] equation to get my answer... |

| simple, easy, and amusing. At first glance I thought 'come on, you have to change it at least little, even if the change is miniscule. But no I was wrong, don't need to change the equation, just need to change the reader of the equation. Hang from the ceiling perhaps. |

| VERY VERY clever! Got me! Thanks, |
buckeyechris
Aug 27, 2007
| Very clever but in fact you do change it when you look at it upside down. Utilizing that particular font, you have to flip the 1 around when you look at it upside down. Not to be negative but I was just using your rules to evaluate the problem and when I did that I got a 6 preceded by a figure that sort of looked like a 1 when viewed upside down. |

| HI
I just turned the 91 upside down and got 8 + 8 + 16.
Why turn the whole thing over
Dunno.
I believe this is also correct unless
I need another Tea.
Someone let me know if I'm wrong.
THIS IS HOW TO SPELL "phsyciatrist" whoever was
rude & asked.

| If you only rotate the 91, then you're changing part of the equation, which would be against the rules. |

| You can't just 'turn' the 91 upside down, because that is changing the equation. 'Looking' at the whole equation upside down doesn't change what is writenn and keeps the equation intact (even though, technically, it's a different equation).
I liked this one. If I bothered with favourites, this would be added to them, |

| Your instructions are incorrect. They need to say "How can you make the following equation correct without changing the numbers or symbols?" By flipping it over, you actually are changing it, so my suggestion would make your teaser more accurate. |
