Brain Teasers
Up Periscope
Captain Ixolite of the HMS Incomprehensible was sailing in enemy waters. It wasn't long before they were under attack.
Able Seaman Jones rushed up to the captain and reported,
"Sir, Radar reports an enemy sub. What do we do?"
Captain Ixolite, who liked a rebus, scribbled out the following on the back of his hand.
£2.50 per Fathom
Unfortunately a stray hull bolt burst inwards at that point and hit the Captain squarely in his...amazement.
What should Able Seaman Jones do to carry out the Captain's final order?

Now that was so good on many different levels. Being fascinated by the pommy currency, even after I got it I kept thinking "He wanted to pound them!!!" It all made cents to me. As my mother used to say to us kids 'That tickled my fancy'.
