| Einat, most young ones here in America learn a basic rule in english very early. When spelling a word that has and I and E together you follow a simple rule to make sure you spell it correctly, I before E accept after C. An example would be receive vs. siege. Notice that when there is no letter C directly proceeding the IE combination the I comes first. But when the C does proceed the IE combination it is spelled EI. It is just a quick easy little saying to help grade school kids remember how to spell. |

| @ Castillion and GreenApples27 and any others who have noticed there are exceptions to the rule I before E except after C.
As mentioned before, this rule is for little kids, and when they are taught this they are also usually told that there are some exceptions. As my chemistry teacher would say, "there are always exceptions to the rule".
