Super Scrabble
Super Scrabble is a game for eight players. Two boards are used, and the two sets of tiles are combined. The players, in turn, can play on either of the boards. To determine the order of play, each player draws a tile. Howard drew "T", Betty drew "J", Walter drew "H", Lily drew "O", Fred drew "B", Nancy drew "F", and Jason drew "M". After drawing her letter, Alice asked, "Can anyone logically figure out what letter I drew?" After a few moments, Jason replied, "I know what letter you drew." He was correct. What letter did Alice draw? How did Jason know?
Answer
Alice implied that there was a logical solution. Jason (as well as Alice) noticed that each person drew a letter that could replace the first letter of his/her name to make a valid English word. Using the same formula, the only letter that Alice could have drawn was "S".
Howard, T, toward
Betty, J, jetty
Walter, H, halter
Lily, O, oily
Fred, B, bred
Nancy, F, fancy
Jason, M, mason
thus
Alice, S, slice

| Yes Cubano it would be a random letter, but after she drew it she noticed that it was "logical" thus the S. Good job cnmne, way fun, Sunday morning was a good time for them to post this time consuming challenge. |

| Didn't get it , don't understand it. Do you mean to say that the players got to pick
their letters while the letteres were
face up.
Rules were Vague
I just don't get it ????????????? This was
for me, a Weird Teaser. |

| This wasn't very sensical. If the boy had not seen the other cards that others drew he would not know that they had drawn the letter that could replace the first letter in their name to make a word. Logical could mean just about anything in this situation... |

| When you draw to see who goes first, you look at everyone's tiles. So they would have known what each other had. Hope that clears it up for those of you who are confused. ;)
This one goes on my faves! |

| I actually got it in less than 10 seconds! I guess once you do enough teasers, you do find a "pattern" or "trick" to the reasoning behind them. Great teaser! |

| I wouldn't call that "logic", I'd call that a pattern. There would be no way to logically deduce which tile Alice had drawn. |

| Very clever (just like cnmne=sea anemone is clever...).
And yes, there is logic to it. |

| I agree with Castle, it is misleading to say the solution is logical. |

| I would actually take it a step further and say that to say it was "logical" is wrong. Pattern recognition and logic are two very different things. The only logical solution that I could come up with was that she drew an "A". I figured that b/c the only info you would have if she didn't show the tile is what other people drew and whether or not she goes first (assuming as is normal in most games that you draw to see who goes first and then the order of play is determined by seating position). Based on that info and the fact that she said that there was a logically deducible solution, the only tile she could have drawn was an "A" so she would go before the person with the "B" |

| It would be a logical deduction to recognise the pattern structure. once recognised, it then becomes a valid answer to the question of 'can anyone answer the question of what letter I got' (from Alice) and the obvious assumption is that everyone elses letters have been revealed. |

| It would be a logical deduction if someone was purposefully assigning letters but not when they are randomly drawn. |

| I know that there are more than one of each letter in the game, so even though I got the reasoning, I got the wrong word. My word was Malice |

| I guess one mans logic is another mans ????
Based on your logic, Alice may have also drawn a blank. (lice) |
