Brain Teasers
Killer
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
A man kills his wife. Many people watch him doing so.
Yet no one will ever be able to accuse him of murder for this. Why?

well isn't that nice ???
i dont really get this one... hm...
that was....eh...slightly...disturbing?
lol well it was the norm in the olden days.
In what jurisdiction do they let someone serve as executioner for his spouse? I was hoping for a little more soap-opera behind this one. For instance, perhaps they married secretly at a young age, parted on baaaad terms, etc.
Well it seems that in any other situation, if the man was seen killing his wife he would be jailed.
And I'm sure that if you were an executioner in the olden times, they wouldn't be too concerned if you had to kill a family member if they had done something wrong. Some people used to offer up family members as witches in the days of the witch trials where people were burned.

I killed my girlfriend in front of a lot of people yesterday... playing Halo.
An alternate answer for those disturbed the the one given.

Nice one wolvie.
another alternate answer would be 2 say he committed suicide after he killed his wife ♥
I DIDN'T GET IT AT FIRST BUT I LIKE WHAT WOLVIE SAID. I ALSO PUT MY BOYFRIEND TO SHAME IN MORTAL KOMBAT... MOST OF THE TIME.
nah mellew becuase even if he was dead people could still say he was a murderer.
That's a smack in the face. Gee. That would suck.
How about in a TV program or a movie?
Hmmm nah, because the characters would still react like any normal person would and accuse him.
i dint get the teaser
really...whats not to get ?
The guy was an excecutioner and had to kill his wife to fulfil his duty, as she'd obviously commited a crime that was bad enough to be punished by death.

that's so sad!!!!! couldnt they get another hang man to do it? i mean, the lady's just been sentenced to death, you'd think they'd be nice enough to get someone besides her husband to like kill her
Yeh I know, but thats life!!! If it was up to me she would have lived
I think there were too many possible solutions for this riddle.
i thought she murdered someone and then she got the death sentence and her husband had to inject her many possible answers!
i like this puzzle its cool!!!!!
I thought they didn't let "emotionally involved" people in the cases of their loved ones...who has the guts to kill their wife or husband anyway? *shudders*
Hey Wolvie, you didn't actually kill your GIRLFRIEND, though. Just a character she was playing. ;) Funny, though.
very odd case scenario...
Ermm... I think they might've let some other axe-person/hangman execute her.
I want to clerify on the "olden days" you're talking about... I'm guessing medieval Europe? Specifically Scottish law? Well, if you are then I suggest more research before trying to justify a riddle that is so open-ended and has so many variables.
If you're talking about Ancient Celtic Law, you're wrong. Why? Celtic (namely us Scots) nations had no law, whoever was stronger and willing to kill the other to prove their point was right.
Any other sort of time period or country/providence besides that? Still wrong. In a society that has capital punishment the idea of having only 1 executioner is absolutely absurd. Thus, if a mans wife committed a crime worthy of execution, he would NOT be forced to kill her. They would just get (one of) the other executioner(s).

Hasn't anyone ever heard of murder-suicide? You cannot be post-humously tried for murder.
I don't get it
Of course a lot of people who are against capital punishment do accuse hangmen of being state sponsored murderers.
I'm more disturbed by you killing your gf in Halo, wolvie. No nookie for you!
I thought it was an accident

no affence or anything but i think this teaser was stupid because it way 2 many solutions so either make ur teasers more specific or stop writing them!
Erm, that's sick. Really sick. I'm sure I'd saw the rope a bit so when she fell it'd break and I could yell "God doesn't wish for her to die!"
Hey, it worked back then

That's sad. Good one though!
I thought it was in a movie or something.
Interesting discussion, I see everyone has a comment for this one. Good Job on getting people into a discussion. My opinion.....eeeewwwwww
There is a couple of other possible explanations but it was clever.
To all you negative commenters: The whole point of a situation teaser is to have many possible answers. Read the description of 'situation puzzle' for more info.
I thought it was a great teaser.

thanks bookworm.
I dunno why people are getting involved with *olden times celtic/scottish law* firstly, I wasn't around in those days, secondly; I didn't even try basing my teaser on fact, (It is only a brain teaser after all...) and thirdly theres a little something called poetic license. x
