Brain Teasers
Gasoline Spill
Trivia
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.Trivia
There is a valley in the middle of Minnesota called Eden Valley. There is a town right in the middle, and on both sides are hills. The town is extremely small, though, and the town uses one well system that extends to all town residents, no further. On one of the hills, there is a small farm a few miles away from town. This farm also uses its very own well. On the hill opposite of the farm, a semi with a load of gasoline crashes, and the gasoline leaks out by the gallons into the ground water supply. The town was forced not to use water for months, but the farm on the other hill never had to stop using their water. How come?
Hint
GravityAnswer
Ground water is moving toward the pull of gravity, bringing it downhill. The people on the other hill would never encounter the contaminated water because their source is above the town's water source.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

I fully agree with the answer to a well written teaser, but at today prices just such a thought bring tears to the wallet. Keep 'em coming metallicman.
Great fun and easy once I saw the hint! Keep em coming!
Creative, well thought and good. Good work
The farm's well system could be affected, depending on how high the hills are and how deep the wells are.
Nope. The gasoline was travel away from it, becaus it has to follow gravities pull. Its on the other side of the valley, there's no way.
Got the answer, but agree that it is possible that the farms water could be affected. For instance if the farm was 50 foot above the town, but the water table was 10 foot below the town, and the well was 60' deep, then the farms water supply could be affected as well.
However it is possible that it wasn't if the water table was 10' below the surface the whole way along, then the farms water wouldn't have been affected.
Doesn't matter. The teaser works anyway.

okay here is the scoop. the teaser is to schooly! and plus the farms water supply couldnt be infected just because the towns was. the farm has its OWN supply remember!
Westfelhotiez23 if both town and farm pulled water from a well system then actual they could pull out of the same underground water vein. Some underground water veins can run for many of miles.
However if the town pulled water from a lake or stream then only the town would be affected.

Bluegrass, aquifers don't work like that. The gas would follow the flow of gravity, it wouldn't reach the farms well. The gas has no choice but to go along with the rest of the aquifer water. It's like gas leaking into a river and it travels upstream, it can't happen.
I agree with westfelhottiez23.And y r u peeple argueing bout it anywayz???It's just a brainteaser.well,who cares...good brainteaser.
I love it when I know the answer to a trivia teaser xD
