Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.
Removing an appendix is called an appendectomy, removing tonsils is called a tonsillectomy. What is it called when they remove a growth from your head?

| lobotomy isnt removing a growth from the head. lobotomies dont consist of anything being taken out, just messed up. the orthodox lobotomy is a razor sharp bit of barbed wire that is poked through a drilled hole in your forehead and then swivelled back and forth. it goes deep however so not only impulse control but actual thought is affected. modern lobotomies use radiation... like television but more concentrated... still...

| I liked this one. Of course since you started out with medical terms one would think it was another medical procedure. But a haircut is good. With some kids getting a haircut is as bad a surgery!

| Actually haircuts do not "remove" the hair, they simply cut hair. The hair that you started with is still there. A hair transplant may be the closest comparison to your scenario but I don't want to take the fun out of your braingle.

| I solved it fairly quickly. However, you aren't "removing" the growth, only a portion of the growth...
That's the key difference between otomy and ectemy. For example, phlebotomy is the removal of some blood (ie when you have your blood drawn).
That said, it is still fun and I am going to pass it along to others who don't visit this site. |
