Trapped Bird
Whilst out walking one day, Mad Ade comes across a sparrow that had fallen into a hole in a rock. The hole measures three inches in diameter and is three feet deep. Due to the depth of the hole, the sparrow cannot be reached by hand. Mad Ade cannot use sticks or canes, because he could hurt the bird. How can Mad Ade free the bird without causing it any harm?
Answer
By gradually pouring sand into the hole. The bird will keep moving so that it is not buried in the sand, forcing it higher until it comes out.Hide Answer Show Answer

or turn the rock over...
Mad Ade, you got that out of a Mind trap question. You simply changed the pipe to a rock.
hearda variation on that, and i like this one jsut as much, cause the living aspect gives it depth. the other one was (its probably on this site somewhere) was that a bird wants to drink water from a pitcher thats been elft behind, but after a while cant get to the water, so hwos it get to it? it drops in little pebbles until the water level rises. good teaser
Or the bird could just fly out.
the hole is too narrow for it to spread its wings and fly out.
