Brain Teasers
Bees
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Two men made a bet with each other for £300 to stay in a house that was infested with bumblebees for one day. The first man went into the house and came running out after 5 minutes, covered in bee stings. The second man went into the house, stayed in there for the whole day, and came out with only one bee sting.
How did he manage this without getting stung to death?
How did he manage this without getting stung to death?
Answer
He took a jar of honey into the house with him, left it in a room, waited for all the bees to fly into the room after the honey, and then shut the door.Hide Answer Show Answer

or even easier... he could have worn a suit of armour
Bee's can only sting once then they die. Almost all the bees stung the first guy and died so when the second man went in only one was left to sting him. The honey would not work. Would you try it?
electronjohn, not quite true. it depends on the species of bee. i believe a bumble bee does not die after they sting, whereas a honey bee does. also, bumble bees are not at all agressive and will not sting unless provoked. now, if we're talking about africanized bees (aka, killer bees), that's a different story...
I thought the first man got stung by all the bee's but one and then all of the bee's that stung him died and the second man got stung by the only one left.lol
I agree. Why would the bees sting the first person if not provoked? And even if they did sting everyone that came in the house, wouldn't they have stung the man before he could set the honey down in the room? And if, completely illogically, the man did get the honey down without any bee stinging him, why did the one bee sting? Was there just one bee who didn't like honey or something? Even though the rest of them liked it contrary to a real life scenario. I'm sorry, but this teaser could be a lot better.
this was my first teaser. everyboby is so critical, you always have to pick faults.
Good teaser. I thought that maybe the man killed only one bee and then the others went to its funeral leaving him alone.
its quite simple to realize how the first man came out covered with stings, and the second with only one:first off,THERE WAS MOST LIKELY HUNDREDS OF BEES SPREAD OUT IN DIFFERENT ROOMS.the bees could have been sleeping when the first man came in.the bees in that particular room woke up and attacked him, therefore he was covered with stings.when the second man entered, since the room was empty, put a jar of honey there, and waited in the far corner.then he went into another room, closed the door, and therefore was safe from the bees.one could have been trapped in the room with him,and stung him.
thinking abt it... r bees attracted to honey? i mean i know they MAKE honey n everything but would they be attracted to i dunno nectar or something?

Wouldn't the bees sting him while he was bringing the honey to the room?
This teaser is cool. There maybe alterenative or better answers but teaser sure did make a lot of us think. Keep sending your teasers.
i thought he was just intelligent enough to wear a beekeeping suit...
I thought the fact that he was stung by one bee was significant! Oh well...
BumbleBees are attracted to nectar, not honey. They are not involved with honey at all, Honey Bees are involved with honey.
The bumble bees can sting more than once, so they weren't all dead, either. Honey bees are the only bees with a barbed stinger (which pulls their guts out when the try to fly away).
The bees attacked because their nest (the house) was distrubed.
This was a waste of my time.
