Brain Teasers
The Other Two Trains
Along the Pennsylvania turnpike there is a mountain with two tunnels under it. One is a large two-lane tunnel for cars and trucks. The other is a small tunnel for one train to go through. One day two trains entered the tunnel at exactly 8:00. They both traveled in opposite directions. They both passed the middle at 8:01, but they did not crash. Why not?
Answer
The "trains" were not locomotives. They were two long lines of cars traveling in opposite directions through the two-lane tunnel. Any long line of vehicles, people, etc. is also known as a train.Hide Answer Show Answer

Okay still to early, I didnt get this one! Even though I'm almost positive I've seen it somewhere elsse! Nice Job ;)
Usually, it is 8 pm, and 8 am. Nice twist though. I thought I had you, but you changed the ending
it could be that one train was running normally and passed through the train tunnel while another train was being repaired and was on the back of a flatbed truck going the other direction in the other tunnel.
i guess its ok, but still, not everyone knows
Since you did not specify AM or PM, I think a better answer would be: "one entered at 8 AM and one entered at 8 PM."
same here
i agree with the answer being that one entered at 8pm and the other at 8am, i thought that because it was a trick question and not a logic one
since I thought a long line of cars, trains etc. was a caravan, or convoy, I went with the am/pm..good one

yet another vote for the AM-PM ending.
I figured 2 little boys walked into the tunnel holding toy trains passed by each other.
i thought one was at 8 AM and the other was at 8 PM
it also could have been 8 am and 8 pm which is why they didn't crash
8 am and 8 pm here
maybe if you don't want that as a solution you could mention that both trains entered the tunnel at 8am or 8pm (specify which)

I though it was a country border, different time-line for each, and though why that car line was given..
A long line of cars being called a train makes sense......That might only be because I'm from Pennsylvania......And I'm on the turnpike at least once a month......and the tunnels are fun.....

West of the Mississippi a long line of vehicles is called a convoy...you should stuck with the old am pm answer.
This riddle would work better if you specify that the trains are passing at the same time. (Not everyone uses a 24-hour clock system.)
But nevertheless, good teaser!
But nevertheless, good teaser!
lyk doqq i also tut iz was am and pm or da train was at da other lanes
YUPZ every1 preaty much said it"am pm" but it was good but here in hawaii we dnt call ur deffitinon dat
Nice teaser. I would've answered that one train went through at AM, while the other at PM like everybody else.
I thought it was 8 am and 8 pm. But it is a good teaser anyway.
