Brain Teasers
The Broken Vase
One day, Jessica Brown and Arthur Brown, the parents of Jenny and Harry Brown, awoke to find one of their valuable vases broken on the ground. They immediately suspected that either their children, Jenny or Harry, or their Yorkshire Terrier, Hershey, had somehow accidentally broken it.
Both parents didn't want to punish anyone before they knew who had done it, so they investigated the "crime scene". They found a long piece of brown hair. That didn't help much, since oddly, all the Browns had brown hair, and so did Hershey. Unfortunately, that was all that they found.
After Arthur thought about it for a while, he knew who had broken the vase. Who broke it, and how did Arthur know?

Hint
The piece of hair is very important.Answer
Jenny Brown had broken the vase. Arthur knew this because she was the only person (other than Jessica, the mom) who had long hair. Boys tend to have short hair, and Yorkshire Terriers normally do not shed. After being accused, Jenny admitted that she had clumsily knocked the vase over when she wasn't paying much attention.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

I assumed the hair was Jenny's but decided that Harry had broken the vase and had placed her hair there to set her up! Oh well!
Kinda easy but really good.
The hair could have just fallen there randomly!
cant it be jessica cuz shes also a girl and she mightve tried to just blame her daughter and dat was pretty easy
That's a little bit biased these days. Not all boys have short hair!
I agree with Marple. I have long hair and I'm a boy!
this teaser should have been a situation teaser. As a mystery this teaser lack Clues... It must give a a number of clues to induce thought or trigger the mind into action. This teaser lack all those qualities and events that would make it a geniune Mystery. Jenny had long hair. How the heck did we know this?
There are not enough clues, and the one clue isn't interesting or something we'd assume since you can be any gender with any hair length.
Whew- where to start? Mr Brown accused Jenny on the strength of some long hair? So is Mrs Brown such a sterling housekeeper that no hair ever remains on the floor for more that a day? and "Yorkies don't shed"? but if they are jumping about excitedly enough to knock over the vase, they could also lose a lock of hair. Are our editors asleep at the switch here? I agree that this would be better in the "Situation" category.
commenting again... jenny doesnt HAVE to have long hair! I mean she could have short hair like a boy! so i agree, this teaser should be in the SITUATION category
Jenny is sorry!
I agree about the whole situation thing. This really isn't fair because it does lack clues and there are many other explanations for why a piece of hair is there. Way to be biased.
I agree. This quiz has many to few clues to ACTUALLY figure it out. Also females tend to have long hair, but some women prefer short hair. And boys have short hair because THEY tend to cut it short, but it does not have to be that way. I know various boys that have longer hair than girls I know. It also could have been the girl, because since you're saying all females have long hair (not true) it could EASILY be the girl! Bad work bad work!
Sorry guys for this teaser
it was my first one and i realize that i made a lot of mistakes...
thanks for the advice

For a first one, it was pretty good! But maybe you could have included a hint like this was a very conventional household or idk old england!? i got it but i had to make the assumption that the guy didnt have long hair and the girl didnt have short hair. fun tho!
I like that this mystery was short but interesting. I thought it was the dog because his hair had a different texture and they noticed that.
I was thinking it was the dog because the two kids (in theory, and that's all we have with this puzzle" should have been intelligent enough to clean it up!
I thought it was Harry because their last names are all "brown" and they all have brown hair I thought that Harry was hairy.
Way easy but great explaination
yahoo its a girl! i hate girls (except my mum and sis :lol
I knew the answer straight away but some boys do have long hair!
Oh, I hate gender stereotypes like this... What a bunch of BS
Nice!! Pretty easy, but a good one.
