Nice one. I was thinking teeth but alas I was not right.
i thought that a chess board was the answer.
Exellent teaser!!!
very nicely phrased
I got cox - as in a rowing boat. He will bring the two sides (of rowers) together. Note the word scream and note that the word row is used twice.
Love it.
Very nice! Electronjohn, I like your answer too
I was thinking of two chromosomes uniting.
Very cool!! (But the word zipper reminds me of my favorite jeans i can't fit into!!!!)
Heh, geez Krishnan.
I came up with a Chess board as well. It doesn't fit as well as a zipper does however.

Nice!!! I like it .
I also thought teeth. Neat teaser!
Nicely done.
Wow! That was a good one! Thanks!
I thought it was 2 rows of dominoes. Zipper's more accurate though!
Very clever teaser. I would never have figured it out. Well done.
What am I missing here? How does a zipper have soldiers?
I agree with best girl. When did the teeth of a zipper turn into sold soldiers?
Opps, remove the word sold.
This very non-science lady had the word mitochondria pop into her head!
I thought teeth or mouth, alas I was wrong.
Was I the only one who thought equal sign?
Fun! I was thinking it was either chess or long division.
I too was thinking teeth.
If the answer was teeth, what's the solo soldier/ Your tongue? Good riddle. Perfect answer.
And Doehead is one. Stop commenting. You're too stupid to comment.

Gee, bestgirl, you really have to think metaphorically, or outside the box, sometimes way outside the box, on these riddles. Literal thinking will lead you astray almost every time.

Come on guys its a zipper.
Also thought teeth, the adjective pride seems applicable.
My best guess was something about the hammers/keys of a piano. But nah.
I must say, I'm impressed. Not with the riddle, but with the comments. Usually there are 80% of the comments that say how easy the answer is. Not here. Just a group who in some ways, thought alike. Wrong, but alike. Chessboard is what I thought.
OMG I got one right off the bat!!
That was a really clever riddle. I was thinking something with a math equation, but zipper was perfect!
Excellent riddle. So cleverly written! Thanks.
Went with shoelaces. Have to agree zipper fits clues better
A zipper?!! I thought it was a railroad switch. I guess that's what I get for watching Little House on the Prairie reruns.
Terrific riddle. I was thinking of chessmen. But "unite or divide" made no sense. Picturing two parallel rows uniting or dividing gave me a visual, and zipper jumped into my head.
I like this riddle as a four liner which all rhyme. The last two lines are good, but I'd edit them out. YMMV.

Good one! Tough, but not a ridiculous stretch
I was thinking tenpins, as they are definitely soldiers, facing a rolling ball?
Nice, fun riddle though, thanks!
