Answer
The innocent woman gave one or two statements. If she gave one statement, then the other two must be false, but that situation is not possible, because you always come to a discrepancy. So she must have given two statements. Those statements must be A and B (that's the only way it works out), which means that Anna is the murderess.Hide Answer Show Answer

rather easy.. i did it in my head in about 10 secs.
Very good! Took me a while to figure out! Keep up the good work!
Nice one. It had me stumped for a little while, but, than I firgured it out.
I bet half the people that say they got it right, actually got it wrong!
Still have problems understanding.
i got it right but i got it a dif way than u! i dont understand ur way
I don't really get this one
it could have been Jayne was the murderess and Barbara was the accomplice and that Anna was innoccet, because all of the statements were pointing in the negative direction. No one ever said that they were innocent. Also the three women could have all given one of these comments against one of the others and not themselves, and not jus one woman giving two of the statements and one of the others giving the third.
George is wrong. If Anna is innocent, then A is a true statement about her given by someone else - but both the others would be liars.
Likewise, if Barbara is innocent, then B must be a true statement given by a liar.
So the only possibility is that Jayne is innocent, and either A or B must be her statement that is true.
But if one is true, the other must be true also (given that Jayne is innocent), so she made both statements and they are both true.

This was tough! Must have taken me nearly half an hour!
George (above) said: Jane murderer, Barb accomp, Anna innocent. If so, the first statement would be TRUE, and the true statement can only be said by the innocent (Anna) and the statements can't be said about one's self. Anna couldn't say "Anna is not the accomplice".
A very fun teaser! I love a good challenge!

Sputnik felt Barbara was the murderer. But if Barb was then:
"Barbara is not the murderess" has to be FALSE
"Anna was not the accomplice" was either said by Barbara (would be FALSE) or by Jayne (would have to be innocent).
If FALSE, then Anna WAS accomplice and Jayne innocent- last statement has to be true and could not be said by Jayne about herself.
If TRUE, then Jayne is accomplice and Anna innocent. Anna cannot make the true statement about herself.
I just loved this teaser!
