2: barium, hydrogen, radium
3: iodine, rhenium, lanthanum
4: phosphorus, erbium
Each of the following four elements must be added to the above groups. Each of these elements can be used only once, and each group must have one element added to it to make it complete.
indium, neodymium, sodium, uranium
Which element is added to each group and why?
1: argon, germanium, nitrogen, titanium
2: barium, hydrogen, radium
3: iodine, rhenium, lanthanum
4: phosphorus, erbium

indium, neodymium, sodium, uranium
Which element is added to each group and why?
Answer
Add the elements so that the chemical symbols of the elements in each group spell the names of countries.1: argon (Ar) + germanium (Ge) + nitrogen (N) + titanium (Ti) + sodium (Na) = Argentina
2: barium (Ba) + hydrogen (H) + radium (Ra) + indium (In) = Bahrain
3: iodine (I) + rhenium (Re) + lanthanum (La) + neodymium (Nd) = Ireland
4: phosphorus (P) + erbium (Er) + uranium (U) = Peru

Thanks for educating us
Superb teaser! That was an excellent idea. But one small error, Gallium is Ga, not G.
Great and challenging brain teaser. Congratulations ! When I read it, I instantly got it had something to do with the first letters of the words, but since I do not know all of the symbols by heart, I did not find the answer.
To Krishnan and all others. I apologize for the mistake. I take pride in my work, and this really bugs me. Perhaps the editors can delete all references to the fifth group.
The moment I looked at this one, I new it would be hard, and it was!!!

Yeah it was pretty good. Isn't it annoying to spoil an almost perfect teaser with an error in detail. Know the feeling!
I love chemistry but never thought of countries to match. Briliant concept and this one goes straight to my favorites. Well done!
