j-me Nov 21, 2007	Kallian, gloves can be used to bat with - such as in cricket, you have batting gloves; every boy in Australia has batting gloves to protect their hands. I was thinking totally different but it didn't exactly fit with just one ball.

joshmn Nov 21, 2007	It could also be the thing that props up the ball, like in softball. I don't know what it's called. It's used to hit the ball (it keeps it in one spot), and it never gets hit (almost never).

This one was so fun that I sent it to a couple of my friends to see if they can figure it out. Great Job!!! I sincerely loved it.

sbuske Jul 02, 2012	Batting gloves are thrown all the time. They also get hit. Ever been hit on the hands while playing baseball? Mucho pain. However, I don't know if you could consider it thrown, but eyelashes do come off and fall. Is your body throwing them out?

You bat your eyelashes whe you flutter them usually ascribed to a woman who is flirting and playing the "oh woe is me damsel in distress" role. The "ball they are near is you eyeball. The teaser stated near a ball but don't get hit, so batting glove or any other piece of baseball equipment wouldn't really fit.

elentir Jul 02, 2012	The riddle states it "never gets A hit". I emphasize the 'A' because that means that it can include other baseball equipment. Just because it gets hit doesn't count as getting A hit. Therefore, tees, batting gloves, pitcher mounds are all valid answers. If you go with the other interpretation, eyelashes get hit all the time too. They are there to protect our eyes from getting hit from dust and other particles. That would rule them out as an answer.

Maggiethe8th Jul 02, 2012	I looked at this in the morning, and knew it needed to sit....was able to figure it out pretty painlessly this afternoon-and really enjoyed it! Must be a cultural expression about batting eyelashes, given many didn't recognize it.
