If the University were to randomly award a student, what is the percentage chance that it would be a 4th year student?
Answer
19%Divide the number of 4 th years (187) by the total number of students (981), and then multiply the number by 100 to convert to a percentage.
Hence the answer is (187/981)*100 = 19%

As the ratings show, this is hardly a teaser. It is a stock standard junior high school Mathematics exercise.
shouldn't this be in the probability section? and i agree that it is really just a straight math question, and not much of a teaser. have been enjoying your other ones, though, mad-ade!
Whats with Mad-Ade and kebabs?
That was to easy, mad-ade
what the heck
Pretty easy, and shouldn't this be in probability?
Yes it would fit in probability, but it also fits in math.
Many of the teasers on this site would fit into more than one catergory.
If it was in probability, there would be people saying it should be math.

pretty fundamental
okay though
okay though
pure math, and easy math at that.
Not only is it a pure, easy, probability math problem, it's also inaccurate. The result is rounded and should indicate that. The answer rounds to 19.1%. Had there been three more 1st to 3rd year students (for 984 total), the answer would still be more than 19%, but would round to 19.00%.
