What a great idea for a teaser!
Nice.
You should do one of these for all occasions.

I only got number 6...but nice one anyways...
Heh.. really hard.. got 3 w/o hint, 7 with >.<

THAT stank bra but E-MAIL me sometime
gezz! How did you come up with all that? Great teaser.
Very strange. I didn't really understand it until about halfway through the clues. It was fun, though.
Not to detract or anything, but this did come out of the back of the January Reader's Digest...
I had to use the clues for all but the first one... I figured there was no way I could have got some of the cross cultural references otherwise.. I still got #4 wrong >.<
Cool idea!
Cool idea!
It was Mog? Cool! I'll have to borrow my mother's copy as I got it elsewhere and was not aware it was there too. Thanks for letting me know.
Some were funner than others were. Same goes for the difficulty, so i gave u in the middle for both.
cute
I only got number 10.
haha mogmat..i was thinking the same thing..i coulda sworn i saw it in the Jan issue of Reader's Digest...i'm a little disappointed fishmed i'm hoping you didn't take ALL of them from there..i'm going to check....
I did not take any from there as I found it elsewhere. I did not make it up, but did not realize until Mog said something that it was there too.
i only got number 10!!!!!!!!! lol
I loved it!
I loved it. Great teaser!!
sorry to say but I still dont get it and it was really boring i dont want to be mean. Anyway that was really creative!
Very creative - no matter where it came from! I managed to get all but two of them.
This YEAR, I hope to get more teasers right. Good teaser
It is a great puzzle. The original copy is on ezboard.com. I hope that this submitter is the original author. Maybe we'll see later ... if there are, indeed, more gems like this for other occasions.
If it came from ezboard, I was unaware of it as I have never been there. Glad you liked it anyway.
i only got yogi bear!
It doesn't matter where it came from, i call it resourceful thinking. Great concept for a teaser, keep them coming.
I thought the answer for 5 (Harvard/Yale student) could be "Day Learner"
Great teaser!
Great teaser!
I HATE THIS, I HATE THIS,
SOMETHING'S WRONG,
I'M SAYING SOMETHING NICE AGAIN.
THIS WAS REFRESHING, A LITTLE EASY, BUT ENJOYABLE.
XIEXIE NI (THANK YOU)

lot of fun!!
lot of fun!!
Imurray must be having brain tremors,I'm with Puttumup
This teaser was great! Finally, a language challenge worth taking. Kudos!!
2ndhandrose- It has an o as the beginning letter because it doesnt count the y. The y is already supplied as part of the "year".
And no matter where this is from, it hurt my head because its too early for me to be thinking like this.. good teaser.

I didn't get 2 (unbelieveable ), 6 0r 8. The rest just tumbled out of my little sleepy brain. This was really fun!
Got 4 of em, with the hint. This was not as easy as it looks!!
Wow, that was harder than it should have been!
I didn't get Caveat Emptor (what is that anyway?!), person engaged in reverie or graybeard. Never heard of calling someone a graybeard other than perhaps a pirate!
Cool teaser!

Oh yeah... and isn't it SUPERCHARGED rather than hydrocharged? Never heard of hydrocharged.
Still had a blast completing the half I was able to solve!

Got them all... not so hard imho, although a few took a bit of thinking.
scallio, I think the idea with "hypercharged" (not hydrocharged... that would be water-powered ) is that both "supercharged" and "turbocharged" mean specific things (types of forced induction for engines, look it up on wikipedia or howstuffworks) whereas "hypercharged" isn't a specific technology (yet?) so it could just generally mean "souped up" as the question says. Got to say I've never actually heard the term before but still got it right, so it obviously fits, at least for me

Oh and "caveat emptor" is Latin. It literally translates to "let the buyer beware". "Caveat" is just a fancy legal term for "warning"
A little bit hard, but nice workout for my brain.
I enjoyed this teaser very much. It made me think, and I didn't get all of them, but enough of them to smile. A great teaser as usual, Fishy.
Another wonderful teaser from fishmed!! That was great, got a few without looking at the hint. Then I got the rest (except Caveat Emptor) afterwards. Again, Great Job!!!
Clever!
Excellent!
Thank you, Fishmed; I loved this teaser big-time! With no hint necessary, I got 11/12 with no problem (not "hypercharged") Keep 'em comin'!!
Fun! Only 8 right, but I enjoyed it. Thanks.
haha this was fun trying to figure out! i only got like 2 right though!
That was so fun. I loved it. Thanks for the post. Keep 'em coming.

Great one. If Imurray says it's good, it must be incredible!!!
He never, ever says that anything is good.
BTW, it doesn't matter if it originated in Reader's Digest. All teasers come from somewhere. Even the "originals" were inspired by another one.
EXCELLENT!!!

This was an excellent teaser. Thanks for the great hints. I still missed 3, but had a great time solving all of them.
Good teaser. I didn't get it, but good teaser anyways.
Neat-o. I got most of them without much strain, but...
- had no idea on #2 (never cared for American history)
- wasn't sure what reverie meant and somehow thought of 'revelry' and came up with DAYBREAKER, figuring it might be close enough (and now I know what reverie means, thanks to dictionary.com, which I try not to use until after I've given up on a teaser!)
- and only got the HYPER--AR---- half of HYPERCHARGED. Oh well!
I almost stumbled on #9, until I realized my name was in it. Teehee!

AOR- another old repeat
I'm confused. I thought that to submit a teaser you had to make it up yourself or give credit if you copied it from somewhere. I've seen some very clever teasers in other publications, but didn't know that I could submit them. I'm not meaning this as a criticism--I just really am looking for the information. Thanks.
Enjoyed this one as much this time as last time. Fun.
I, too, auntie, felt the same way as 3 years ago: basically, 11/12 and loved it!!!
Fun! I didn't get two of them but still enjoyed it. Good job!
I loved this quiz. But I think I am still asleep - couldn't figure out some of them! Thanks for posting!
Good straining to get answers this morning-some weren't going to happen , regardless of how hard I tried!
Fun. I got all but 2 and 3. I at least figured it had to be "something Park" though. So I got half of #2, lol.
Too late at night and past my bedtime to take the time to work on it. I see it is controversial.
I thought this was wonderful!! Very clever and challenging! I got only a few but enjoyed all of it! Thanks for posting.
Fun and fairly difficult teaser. I got 12/12; 10 without the hint and 2 with the hint.
Gr8 fun teaser thanks; managed to solve most of them!
Fantastic! Challenging, but not impossible. I needed the hint for one. This is going on my faves list. Terrific balance of fun and challenge.
Glad you liked it.
