Brain Teasers
In Store?
Two men are sitting on a bench waiting for the bus. One is dressed very nicely and the other looks like a bum.
The bum says to the other, "I really like your shirt, where'd you get it?"
The second man replies, "I bought it at a very exclusive shop, I'm sure you've never heard of it," clearly annoyed at the bum's question. The bum, clearly annoyed at the rich man's snobbish behaviour says, "Is that so? Well, I bet you $50.00 I know where you got your shoes!"
The rich man took him up on the bet.
What answer got the poor man the $50.00?

an ok teaser
Cute, but I have to say I think it's a repeat of some sort because I've heard or read that recently (or one very similar) and this is the only site I read this sort of stuff. Good try though. Also there were some typos.
Needs editing.
But good concept

hey, it was my first teaser, give me a break. so I used the British variant of behavior, sorry.
I did search the site to see if there were other's like this, didn't see any.
thanks for the feedback!

this is funny, and is a very good joke. even though the poor man was a bum, he was very smart, and even though the wealthy man was rich, he was a complete idiot.

That's a very common scam done by con artists in New Orleans. The "poor man" approaches a group of somewhat drunk people and bets the drunkest one $50 that he knows where "you got them shoes"... "you got them right her on the sidewalk in New Orleans!". The plan being that the drunk guy is drunk enough and in front of his friends so that he will pay up. Its so comon that some hotels there warn you about the scam.

This was cute
I was warned of this con before my trip to New Orleans. I planned to respond "...but these are not my shoes". then thought wiser and avoided the street people altogther. Anyway enjoyed it.
sooOOOOOOOOoooo StUpId
unfortunately the only reason that that teaser works is because the question and/or answer mutilate the english language - so painful to read!!
Don't listen to them. I think that was pretty well written. And funny.
That was a relaly good teaser, you had my guessing for a while.... I would have never though of that! Good job for it being your first teaser.
good job, but it wasnt my type.
keep on trying
keep on trying
Where do you find a rich man at a bus stop? .. not from around my neck of the dessert!
Duh! I can't believe I couldn't get that!
Ha!!
When I was a teenager, i got caught by that scam In the French Quarter because i was scared of the guy. The worst is when they throw some goop on your tennis shoes, wipe it off, and then expect to be paid for a shoe shine.
I was looking for something more indepth, more creative. That easy a teaser could have been, 'a store', or 'from your closet at home, or 'from an exclusive shop'. To simple.
good one!!!
LOL I liked it vikingboy...keep'em coming
This sounds like the brain teaser "What Song?" Was that your motivation for this. It's almost like it, but tweaked a little. I didn't like this one as much as that one. Sorry.
I DIDNT REALLY GET IT BUT ITS BETTER THAN ANYTHING I COULD MAKE UP. SOME OF YOU PEOPLE SHOULD BE NICER
CAUSE I DONT SEE ANY THING OF YOURS UP THERE.

Got it right away. Clever usage of poor Anglish!
thanx's o' boy jolly good teaser!
I know but i was trying to sound like i was a brit!

I got taken by this scam in New Orleans after a few hurricanes (not the named one, either!). Had a good conversation with the guy, so in my haze I considered it well spent! (He did only touch our shoes lightly with a cloth, though...)
I got it. Good teaser
i was thinking "from a shop" but would the guy really pay up? i suppose if he's rich he may as well. but great teaser!! it made me laugh when i saw the answer!!

This was a great teaser.I think no one knew the answer but that is what teasers are about.
What appalling grammar.
Funny though.
Funny though.
That was absolutely awful. If you can't write a brain teaser without resorting to mutilating english, it's a pretty sure sign that you weren't meant to write brain teasers.
Great teaser & clever play on words. Regardless of what other folks say. Good one to get you started.
how funny!
No offense, but it was straight off of mindtrap.
But it got approved, which is more than any of my teasers can do!
Good job.

I read your teaser before coffee this morning. Immediately went to answer and now I'll be chuckling the rest of the day. Thanks, I liked it very much.
I thought Shoe Store...but Hey I liked it anyway!
I thought it was funny..
I guess alot of us have been to New Orleans and heard about this already, had I not been though I wouldn't have had a clue to the answer.
I like it! my friend and I do riddles like this all the time
People the mistakes in the teaser are in the form of two people speaking to each other. It makes the teaser. Its a great teaser and if I wasn't from the south I would haven't known the answer.
It was very easy.... ok though.
I really enjoyed the play on words and the teaser was very funny! Its just the type of language a BUM would use!! Tell all the haters to get off you... But I also thought "shoe store" when I first read it... you got me!!
I liked it I dont think that u should listen to the ppl who give too much crap. but it remindes me of something my father did to me. He said I bet u I can jump all the way down these stairs, while at the top of a stair way. I took him up on the bet, onl yto watch him jump stair by stair all the way down. thanks 4 the memories
I thought it said the name brand or something on the shoe. If I was the rich man I would tell the bum that that was a stupid answer and not give him the $50.
I got an answer that was close- i thought hed would say something like, "a store!" or something else along those lines. It wasn't the best ive ever heard, but it was pretty good! first teaser? i haven't even gotten that far yet! Good job!
awsome teaser it is fun but a little challnging
That was very good. I got it, but that's because I heard of it before.
What a coincidence! About 30 years ago I was in New Orleans with my wife when we were approached by a street urchin who offered to bet me $1 that he could tell me where I got my shoes. I accepted the bet and you know the result. My wife thought it was hilarious and I was also amused. Of course I paid the little brat, for the entertainment value, if nothing else. Thanks for reminding me of that day in the distant past.
I thought it was a bit of a groaner until I found out it was Vikingboy's first. Not so bad, V, but room for improvement. You don't deserve all the crap heaped on you here - I've heard worse!
This was kind of stupid.......
i am a newbie to this site. only saw about 6 teasers and this one was the easiest one. it took me 20 seconds. nice try. keep it ip! i also agree with zonahobo!!
Not too sure this is one of the better ones, I didn't like the punch line.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Even the ones that hated it...the bad grammar is part of the joke!
As to why a rich man would be at the bus? Rich is relative, (not any of mine), in some cities public transportation is used by a large part of the population.
I'll try to get another one.

i thought maybe the bum would say, "from a shop", but whatever.... other than that, it was okay, i guess.
ware ezactly is tha bad grammer?
great teaser loved it
tequila rose - the bad grammar is in the answer. you *have* shoes on your feet, you don't "got" them on your feet.
get implies 'fetch' in its meaning, have is a form of existence/occurance.

thanks everyone, and it does make me laugh to see how so many didn't get the point of the bad grammer. He's a bum, and it's what makes the joke work.
Have a great day, and by the way, I know where you got your underwear too!

duh
i liked it but hey what do i know, ppl say i'm just a stupid 12 year old...
It's a trick, and that's what makes it work. It baffles me how many bad comments are given on some of these teasers.
I liked it even though I had a different answer
I agree with Sweetime and Chakoteya; the grammar, while integral to the "story", is appalling
I was thinking we has going to say 'At a store' like any really smarty pants would.
Grammar is fun.
lollol
I was thinking he got them from a box. Cute teaser!
Nice teaser!
Nice!
I was thinking: Shoe store/box ?
I was thinking "from your closet"
