I came up with drum for this riddle .. sort of works .. but your answer fits more naturally to the clues .. nice riddle!

I thought of blind but it wasn't a verb and a noun. But that was the only thing I dcould thinkof. Good one!
i had run (as in to run and a chicken run), but couldn't work out how that worked with sound.
