Killing Time
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
The Bjerkaas family are on holiday. They are driving through Norway in order to reach the European continent. Norway has a lot of winding roads, and one never knows what's beyond that next curve.
So, the family, consisting of Kari (Mum), Ola (Dad), the two sisters (Hilde and Torill) and their little brother (Knut), figures out how to kill time a bit. They are going to guess what car make the next car approaching them will have.
What you are to find out, is:
- Who guessed
- what car make
- with what colour
- with which driver
- and at what time the car was seen by the family
Note: They only guessed the car make. The colour and driver are only additional information about the car.
Good luck!
Here are the clues:
-1- One of the males guessed the BMW.
-2- Knut's car make showed up eight minutes after the car driven by the police officer.
-3- The mother guessed correctly what the first car make would be every time they played, but she could not predict the colour, which wasn't dark green or dark pink.
-4- A German car had another family in it, and it showed up at 17.46.
-5- Nobody guessed a car make sharing their initials.
-6- The old lady showed up before the young student and the businessman.
-7- The silver Ford passed the Bjerkaas family's car just after the blue car.
-8- The Hyundai drove by at 17.54, just when one of the females had started losing her hope as to whether her make would show up or not.
-9- The businessman's car was green.
-10- The dark pink car, which had the make that Ola guessed correctly, belonged to the student.

good one, a little harder than most but still not a challenge
nice one but it was kinda hard!!!!
Just hard enough for my slow-thinking brain! Thanks!
Good teaser. Enjoyed figuring it out even though the times were military times. Husband is AF so I hear military times quite a lot.
Military times? Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for all your nice feedback
Oh never mind. You mean using 24 hours instead 12 and am and pm.
But still, cool
But still, cool
It was really hard but it got my mind working
ow. my head hurts. i didn't get any of it right. too hard for me. i have a headache. ow.
good vone, had to kick in the third brain cell...
Great fun!
This was the exact level of difficulty I needed right now

I've never heard of any of those names so i gave up on the first clue I hadn't the faintest idea who was male or female.
oops. i should read the whole riddle through next time great riddle though!
wasn't my favorite, sorry.
Fun, but the names were so hard for me. I know that you explained in your story who was male or female, but I got so confused when Ola sounds so female to me. I still got it. I had a little glitch in the grid and had to go back and fix and that adds a lot of time to the solving.
Perhaps I should've used Ole instead :p Anyway, my dad's named Ola.
I hope no Finnish had problems with the names, as Kari is there used as a male's name...

Can anyone explain how you solved whether Kari or Hilde had the family and police? I couldn't for the life of me find the answer!
OK...not particularly hard or exciting, but OK.
Ok, this one finished me off for the day! I'm all puzzled out. This one was tough, but very fun.
Talking Optimist - maybe this will help: The mom, Kari guessed the car at 17.35 (clue 3). The family in the German car appeared at 17.46 (clue 4). Therefore, Kari did not guess the family.
Wow! Somehow I got all of those correct. Every choice I made *seemed* to be right but I wasn't sure if it would be 'cause this one was tough!
I'm with Talking Optomist on this one. Clue 3 says she guessed right the first time 'every time they played' not really that she guessed first in this game...
Did I miss something?
Did I miss something?
OK I get it now. The clue is saying not only is she always correct, but she also always goes first; right?
Other than that confusion, I loved this one! Really made me think.

It was pretty good and where did you come up with Bjerkaas?
I also found clue 3 a bit hard to fully understand, but I think it's amazing that a Norwegian can speak English well enough to be able to construct a logic grid! I can't speak one word of Norwegian.
It was quite difficult, but entertaining, very well done.
