Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.

A doctor was operating on a man who had been at the scene of an explosion. When the man came into the hospital, he was quickly diagnosed with a compound fracture. There was a broken bone in his right leg, but he was otherwise uninjured.

After seeing the x-rays, the doctor told the attending staff that it should be removed because he would be better off without it. Why?

I thought the "it" was referring to the fracture itself and the doctor was going to "remove" the fracture by fixing it! Oh well! I guess both ways work!

I thought it was because it was a radioactive explosion, and only his leg was in it, and if the leg stayed there the cancer would spread. Not exactly logical...
