How Many Fares?
A student at Harvard decided to become his own employer by using his car as a taxi for the summer. It costs the student $693.00 to insure his car for the 4 months of summer. He spends $452.00 per month on gas. If he lives at home and has no other expenses for the 4 months of summer and charges an average of $7.00 per fare, how many fares will he have to get to be able to pay his tuition of $3280.00?
Hint
Let the number of fares= xAnswer
$3280.00 + ($452)4 + $693.00=$5781.00
$5781.00/$7.00 = 825.85
Therefore 826 fares are necessary to have enough money

Not bad.
A little easy unless you forget that the gas was monthly.

didnt care for it , think u need better material
I always cringe when I see a math teaser - math is really not my strong point. But I figured this one out because it was just basic math! Oh what an ego boost for first thing in the morning! I got a math teaser quick and painlessly!
Not bad, but a gas cost dependent upon the number of fares taken would make it a bit more complex.
All calculation, no teaser.
