| I'm always intrigued by the comments... and how we're all "wired" differently. What's easy and obvious for one, may be difficult or impossible for another... Coach, what's wrong? you're usually so positive; if pest could've been bug, then what word would have been made with bug in that position? Its actually better for a teaser to have a clue that has more than one possible answer but only one answer that really WORKS!

| The "e" in gene and the "e" in era being one in the same threw me off. Just like the "r" in era and rat. Counting every letter makes 13, not 10. Did this not bother anyone else? I've never done this type teaser-are they usually like this?

| I dont think it was very great, in fact i was dissapointed. i got the first three parts just as my first thought but then i disregarded them because i assumed that 1234567890 ment that each letter was different, so if 1234=gene then 2=4 so, yea. |

| I have to agree with Zealot. I'm not familiar with this type of puzzle so assumed my answer was wrong when two numbers ended up representing the same letter. But I was tired and guessed it anyway. Everyone says it's the right answer so there is something about the rules of this game I don't understand. I like the creativity that went into creating this teaser. |

| to both labs & utna... this is language not cryptography, and I thought the way it was written showed fairly clearly the numbering was relating to the position not the value of the letters. I actually found this really easy. I think "Talkin' about my..." would have been too easy as a clue.
What I'd like to see is a similar thing but with the letters scrambled. For instance 7645 being a rip (tear). Otherwise I had "Gene" straight away, "era" could have been "age", but I couldn't think of a pest which was "ge_". "Ion" was a bit of a stretch, but when you have "generat_ _ _" that limits the possibilities. |

I found that fun, and easy. I mean, I struggled with it, but then experienced the joy of realizing what it was, and then it was easy.
But yeah, I was a little slow while reading the clues, and the first one I got was ION (I'm a physicist, sue me). Then I went back and said, oh, hey, GENE! And then a time period starting with E... EON?
But then GENEON_ION didn't look like it was getting anywhere... so I thought more and came up with ERA ... but then I was screwed up by the numbers, and I was thinking I was looking for a three letter pest starting with A .... but GENERANTION made me reread the clue and I found the dirty RAT that was pestering me! |

| Wow, got it instantly -- much faster and nore easily than usual. Must be the extra coffee I had this a.m. or else my brain's just working for a change. The last 3 letters had to be "ion", and then working backwards, the solution was a cinch. |

| I really liked this one! It took some thinking for me--I got ion first also, not because I'm a physicist, but an elementary school teacher. Then I got "gene" and I figured the letter before ion would be a t or an s and after that it was easy. Also, this teaser is so different from the other teasers of the day we've been having lately. Quite refreshing to have a change!

| I got gene and ion because i tend to think scientifically. once you get that, you just try to think of a word beginning in gene and ending in ion....that's what made it easy for me. Good job though. |

| I totally agree with speedqueenkmw! I got all the clues correct except rat, but with using ant or any other 3 word pest it was still a 13 letter word. Nothing was said about running letters together or eliminating a letter so I do not think it was a good teaser to be so lacking in explanation. |

| Not sure where the difficulty in understanding he teaser is' I too just assumed that the numbers cooresponded to their placement in the word, The fact the writer made a point to not only state that there were 10 letters in the word, but to lay out the numbers to illustrate it. I enjoyed the teaser myself. |
