It's All Dogs
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
The four people in this puzzle all competed in different classes of dog agility at a recent competition. The competitions all required the dogs to run over jumps, through tunnels and various other obstacles in as quick a time as possible. Each had a different result - one came first, one third, one fourth and one ninth. All four dogs were each of a different breed.
Can you work out who handled which dog, at what level each competed, the place each finished in and the breed of each dog?
1. If Tiff finished first, then Terry finished fourth.
2. If Terry finished fourth, then Jago is a collie, otherwise Jago is not a collie.
3. If Jane competed in the Senior class, then she finished third. If Jane competed in Novice, then she finished fourth.
4. The dog that finished ninth was an alsatian. This was either Jago, in which case Jago competed in the Elementary class, or this was Kelly, in which case Terry handled Kelly.
5. Mark won Starters.
6. If Mark's dog is called Patti, then Patti is a labrador, otherwise Patti is a collie.
7. Ruth's dog is called Jago.
8. If Jago finished fourth, then she competed in the Novice class, otherwise she competed in the Senior class.
9. If Patti finished first, then Terry's dog is an alsatian, otherwise Terry's dog is a collie.
10. If Jane's dog is a doberman, then Jane finished fourth, otherwise Jane finished third.

I'm not big on the ifs and all that. It's ok to me to do a couple questions like that, and then having some more concrete answers, but with all the ifs and ors, it makes it very hard to do and enjoy
I liked the "ifs" format, just because it is a nice change from some of the others here and made it more challlenging than it otherwise would have been. Thanks for the teaser!
The alternatives format was exasperating, but I love dogs. The very long walk with them was fun. Thank you!
I've never done one like this before. I've tried twice, and still can't get it -- but I'll keep trying! Very challenging -- Thanks
I loved this one! Quite challenging, but apparently not enough since I solved it :p
Well, I like all the "ifs!" When I first read through it, I was like, "What?" Then went through it methodically, then back and forth and back and forth - just like the "ifs" want you to. A really good puzzle and good time! Got it right, by the way.
OUCH, too hard for my wee little brain!
I can't believe I got this one. All the "ifs" threw me at first, but then when I looked again and just went slowly, it came out fine! Great teaser!
Whew!! That was a little confusing! I had to re-start my grid and go a little slower. Finally got it!! Good job!

I loved this teaser. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to hack it but after restarting my grid 3 times I was finally able to get it.
Wow. took me two tries through the grid... It was more of deciding what the answers HAD to be instead of elimination (got to use those green circles a lot) Phew that makes you think differently.
Was a nice change. The if's threw me off at first, but once i read through them all once, it made sense. Got through it first try. Keep making em like this. I like the different thought pattern required.
this is my favorite teaser by far, the ifs made it great
Really really good! It looked impossible at first, but it ended up being easier than I thought, although it really made me think. Great job!
Had to go over the clues more than twice! Loved it!
I'm glad for all the comments - I would have given up otherwise. It's been many years since my mind stretched in this way. Hooray, I did it. ;)
Really good puzzle!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that the difficulty is only rated as 2.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Boolean logic made it very challenging!!! Good job!!!!!!!
I got it right, yay!
But not a big fan of the format...
But I'll give you credit, it would take someone a lot smarter than me to write this teaser!

Brilliant puzzle. Thought I was going to have to do some assumption-checking (based on all the if/then statements), but surprisingly it wasn't necessary. Had to start it twice, but ended up loving it. Well done.
simply wow!!! i thoroughly enjoyed solving this one, though for logical correctness, you need to put "if and only if" instead of just "if" in some cases where you want the converse to also hold true. Other than that it was a refreshing change.
I guess I am on the other side of the fence. I found this one VERY easy as it took me only 10 minutes or so to do. I suppose most people don't like the thought process behind if-then statements. Even though it was easy, I found it very enjoyable to think along a different line than most puzzles. Thumbs up!
I thought the "ifs" made the teaser much harder. Thanks for a great challenge.
HINT: clues 4 and 9 are connected. crackurcode and I must think alike, because I also solved it in about 10 minutes. well-written
I also found this pretty straightforward. #3 & #8 are connected Both Jane & Ruth (Jago) can only be Senior or Novice. Mark is Starters which make Terry in the Elementary category. Take it from there.
What a great teaser! I've never seen one with the "if" format for clues. Very creative. Thanks for sharing!
Very creative format; I liked it. You definitely need to choose the right order to take the clues in because they don't give much away on first reading.
I also found this conditional logic refreshing, I tackled it by going through each clue and working out anything definite, e.g. we knew Jane was either 3rd or 4th, so we could eliminate 1st and 9th for her, these proven facts built up to the point that some of the conditional clues started making sense.
Well done.
Well done.
