It's pretty hard for me at least, but I kinda like the challenging stuff.
LOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!
somehow managed it without the calculator. good one
awesome. very fun
You don't have to guess and check. When Kurt was 8, he was twice as old as Katie, so you know what Katie's age was, and you know how much older Kurt is than Katie. Now, when Katie is 2/3 of Kurt's age, the gap between them is 1/3 of Kurt's age, so you can easily calculate Kurt's age, and from that, the rest is simple.
or you could have drawn a table to get a point in time when everyone was the same age. I got it as, when kurt was 6, jake was 5, katie was 2 and kirby was 0. Then work out how many years later (x) that kurt was 2/3 older than katie. To work that out, do 2/3(6 + x) = 2 + x Then you work out x. Thus you have worked out how many years later it is from when kurt was 6 etc. Add all of the ages above to whatever x was, it happens to be 6. so add all the ages to 6 and you get the answer. Took a good 5 minutes to work that out.
that is wrong a dog is 7 times older than humans
A variation of several such puzzles that I have come across. Quite a simple one too.
Solved it using a number line- think that make sit easy
As KimOHara pointed out, you know the brother is 4 years older than his sister, so if 4 is 1/3, then 8 is 2/3 and 12 is the brothers age. There really wasn't much to it.
