Cafeteria Food

Maura, Bradley, Leia and James had all just graduated from grade 5, and were now moving up to Kim Jameson Middle School. To them, middle school meant one thing: bought lunch, not brought lunch (brought lunches are for losers!). On the first day of school, the four of them sauntered into the school cafeteria, bills and coins in hand. Unfortunately, this is what they saw:
~TODAY'S LUNCH MENU~
-Mystery Meat Tourtiere
-Fried Frog (whole)
-Chocolate Cabbage Chickpea Salad
-Surprise Soup Special
"Ugh!" said Maura. "Nothing good ever comes from 'surprise' foods. At least we can look forward to dessert."
"Uh oh," whispered James. "Check out the dessert menu."
~TODAY'S DESSERT MENU~
-Broccoli and Sugar Pie
-Honey and Bean Brittle
-Chocolate Pickle Crunch
-Pork Pudding
"I can't eat that garbage!" Leia whined.
"We don't actually have a choice. We can't go off the school grounds, we can't call our parents to bring us something, and we can't beg for food from other kids...we're newbies, remember? It goes against the newbie code," said Bradley. "Let's just all order something different and see if there's anything good we can share."
They all sadly agreed to this and bought their lunches.
Can you figure out which lunch/dessert combo each kid bought?
1. Neither of the girls order the Surprise Soup Special or the Chocolate Pickle Crunch.
2. The one who ordered Honey and Bean Brittle seriously thought they saw the Mystery Meat Tourtiere move, so decided a definite NO to that one.
3. The one who reluctantly bought the Pork Pudding did not buy the Chocolate Cabbage Chickpea Salad (ew! vegetables!) or the Mystery Meat Tourtiere.
4. Bradley very much disliked olive green as a colour, and as the soup was of that exact hue, he chose another entree.
5. Eating an actual thing with legs you can see grossed Leia out, so she quickly left the Fried Frog station without spending a penny there.
6. The person who chose the Mystery Meat Tourtiere did not want another brown item, so they did not choose the Broccoli and Sugar Pie.
7. James knew his younger sister would kill him if he ate anything to do with pigs, so he ignored the Pork Pudding station.
8. One of the kids in line told the friends that having soup and pie together made for an absolutely disgusting meal, so none of the kids chose that.

Answer
After much contemplation and disgusted looks, the four friends chose the following combos:Leia had the Chocolate Cabbage Chickpea Salad and a slice of Broccoli and Sugar Pie.
James decided on a steaming bowl of the Surprise Soup Special and a piece of Honey and Bean Brittle.
Maura chose a Fried Frog and a bowl of Pork Pudding.
Bradley selected a Mystery Meat Tourtiere and a plate of Chocolate Pickle Crunch.

After picking at their food for quite a while, James, Bradley, Maura, and Leia all decided that brought lunches WEREN'T for losers. Every one of them brought a plain old PB&J sandwich the very next day.

I sat down and thought to myself, "I will just do one puzzle before I go get a snack from the kitchen..." Well, I really don't feel like having a snack now. Thanks. It was fun^^

good teaser with a GREAT story... even if it is a little gross
loved how it was in a story...gross food though...egh! it was a little cheesy but still awesome... glad that didn't happen to me in middle school...
Very Funny!!! Sort of reminds me of some of the strange foods we had at my schools...Yuk! Thanks for the laughs.
I loved the story! Very fun!
Solving it was rather easy once you solve the one step where you have to realize that the Mystery Meat doesn't pair up with the Honey/Bean, Pork Pudding or Broccoli Sugar Pie. Once you know the Mystery Meat goes with the Choc Pickle Crunch, then it has to be Bradley's lunch. James had the Honey and Bean Brittle and no girl had the Pickle Crunch. The rest falls right in place.
Great job on this one!

Not bad, but I object to having a hint that expands the abbreviations. Sorry, but it make things a tad inconvenient. Couldn't you have put things like "soup" and "frog" in the chart instead?
Well, no biggie. Good teaser.
