Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
Five friends saw a documentary on what happens to abandoned dogs. They were heartbroken when they found out that millions of animals are euthanized each year. They decided then and there to go to the pound and save one dog each. Can you figure out who adopted whom, what new name they gave their pet, what "primary breed" the pet was, and what color the dog's coats were?
Owners--Jan, Jesse, Jamie, Jackie, and Jill
Pets--Laurel, Jasmine, Maggie (Magnolia), Hibby (Hibiscus), and Meg (Nutmeg)
Breeds--Lab, Chihuahua, Mastiff, Great Pyrenees, and Pug
Coats--White, Black, Brindle, Brown, and Fawn
Clues:
1- One owner's name, pet's nickname, and pet's breed all have an equal number of letters, however the only link between owner's name and color is the letter "a".
2- The Five Pups are: Hibby, the mastiff, the white dog, Maggie and Jan's black puppy.
3- Jesse and Jan picked cute wittle puppy wuppies and thought Jackie and Jill were nuts for picking such large breeds, even though they did love the mastiff's beautiful brindle coat.
4- Jamie absolutely loves two things in life, Hawaii and chocolate, so she instantly fell in love with the chocolate lab and of course named her Hibiscus.
5- Jill thought that Jasmine was the biggest, most beautiful creature she'd ever seen, but all that long white hair gave Jackie a fit of sneezes. That's why she chose the big, cuddly, yet short-haired mastiff, Laurel.

Good one, except for the overlapping of clues.
Loved the theme! I hope they immediately get them spayed or neutered for a perfect happy ending.
Although I was able to solve this, Clue number 5 is confusing:
Jill thought that Jasmine was the biggest, most beautiful creature she'd ever seen, but all that long white hair gave Jackie a fit of sneezes. That's why SHE chose the big, cuddly, yet short-haired mastiff, Laurel.
The SHE should be changed to Jackie. It isn't clear if Jill decided to get a different dog to benefit her friend or if Jackie is selecting a different dog for her own benefit.
I just love these logic grids! This one was a bit too easy. Too many of the answers are given outright, rather than having to work to figure them out.

Great teaser, PM1!!! I'm glad I know about dogs! You got me with clue 5 and caused me to get Jackie and Jill mixed up.
Well, I had to alter clue 5 to get it through... third time's a charm I guess. It was a lot trickier the first time I sent it through... too tricky I guess. Thanks for giving it a try. If you want a harder one try Big Bill's Balloon Barn.
Good one!!! Fun to do! Nice job!
Wait.....
I know I shouldn't contradict the writer of the teaser, but I think you messed up. If Jill was allergic to the long white hair, why would she adopt the great pyrenees? Besides, you said,"That's why she adopted the big, cuddly, short haird brindle mastiff instead." Unless you're screwing around with us by being un-specific...you messed up.

Okay, this is the way I read it, though we all know I'm insane!?

If you read the clues carefully they make perfect sense. Slow down and you will get it!
It was a cute puzzle!
It was a cute puzzle!
Agreed
I did it too fast and misread the Jackie/Jill clue. It is stated correctly, but is easy to misread and there are no contradicting clues that would allow you to catch it.
Oh well, guess I need to pay more attention next time...
Also, I am not a big dog person and the size clues didn't help me much, only when I got down to the chihuahua and the GP did the size clue help.
In all, I liked it and though it was a great puzzle!

HAHAHAHA!! I thought I had misread somewhere or the answers/ clues were wrong. After reading the comments, I realize where I messed up. OOPS! Anyways, good riddle/ logic puzzle.
Yeah, it would help if I read more carefully!
Great teaser...just tough enough. Thanks a bunch!

Great teaser, had me thinking early this morning! I had to reread some the clues (esp #5) a couple of times to make sure I was on the right track. Got it first try!
