| I thought it was a pretty good teaser! I thought that maybe he could say, "I wish my mother, father, and wife were happy with what they want>" or sumtin. |

Apr 30, 2002
| That was good. I thought he would have to ask for the money, because there's not a lot his master can do about the lady's eyesight, but you could pay to get medical treatment. Then they could adopt or something. |

| maybe the servent had another brother or sister who had a child and his mother would see that child on the swing therefore his wifes wishes would not be met after all it doesnt say he was an only child |

| Better if there were only one possible correct answer. 'Grant all my family their wishes' would be the obvious answer and others would work too. |

May 21, 2002
| A good one, but it assumes that a) he's an only child (because otherwise his mother could have a grandson by one of her other children) and b) that the mother is still married to the father (because otherwise the wish would make the mother rich not the father)! |

May 22, 2002
| This was quite a good brain teaser. Obviously, many answers could be used - but I think the one that is given is the best answer. Requires some thinking. |

| That answer just doesn't appeal to me. HELKATW, your first comment is nitpicking like some others and your second is highly cynical although probably accurate. |

May 31, 2002
| I thought he could wish for his mother to be born again. That way she would be able to see once more, his wife would have a baby to care for and his father could sell the story to a newspaper or write a book about it and get rich! |

| this one is funny!
He wished for his mother to see her new grand-child playing with the grandfather's money? |
pinkrose209
Jun 28, 2002
| Another answer could be: "I wish for my son to be a very rich doctor."
That way his wife could have her child, the son could treat the servant's mother's eyes, and be kind enough to give money to the servant's father. |

| Good answers drworm and pinkrose but still as it says "Many 'Situation Puzzles' are not designed to be answered by themselves. The idea is for one person to know the answer and other people in a group to try and guess it using yes or no questions. The first person to get the answer is the winner". SandPman read that!!! And hlkatw and dark-prince n evry1 else read that part too!! Gd1 arij!!

Mar 09, 2003
| Hehe. Very clever, and much simpler than what I thought of - I thought he would wish to have a son who would become a famous eye doctor - then the son would become rich and maybe give money to the grandfather, and fix the grandmother's eyesight. But now that I think of it that wouldn't work because by the time the son grew up the grandmother would be very old....very good! |

| The end says:
You have to tell what the servant asked the master.
The answer says:
"The servant said...."
I assumed it was a question and that he was therefore asking for more wishes or for their wishes to come true.
Ending...not good. |

| Simple maybe, but I didn't guess it. I went with the wish for three more wishes thing, too. Think the servants answer is much better. |

| The answer is stupid. The riddle was wirtten out very well and it made e hope for a great answer. What does a swing of gold have to do with it. You could have used any example but you picked a "swing of gold"....stupid! |

| Well, I'm going to take a shot here about that "swing of gold" phrase. My gues is that's the phrase used in the reference from whence our member cribbed the puzzle. This is an oooold folk riddle. |

Jun 19, 2005
| Kind of cool that the servant never directly asked for anything for himself, yet prospered by asking for others. I'm sure he finagled a cut of the gold swing after the fact, was happy to have a little one to carry on his name, and was glad his mom could see him again (which also helped with the baby sitting!). Fun! |

| This was very well written and much fun trying to figure out what he was going to ask for. For this to be a family sight you people sure don't mind calling one another out of their name. If you don't like it so be it but to be so rude and mean is uncalled for. Children read these comments! |

| I thought he would have asked that his mother, wife, and father each receive one wish, but your answer was much more creative and fun! I don't really know if the gold swing is specific enough, since the servant's son could have been at a wealthy man's house with his grandmother, but still, excellent teaser! |

| Just your Old Run of the Mill Wish Teasers. To swing on a Swing made of gold, does not include the Grandfather's Wish. Perhaps a bar of gold the size of a swing provides much wealth, but the third wish, ah there is a first, second and third wish. Simple: One Wish ~ Allow my Grandmother to see My Son who will become Wealthy. I like that as One Wish, not Three wishes. All wishes must be something he could truly Desire. |
