| i m confused--isn't each of the 6 numbers given an individual digit? If so then how come you are not required to place a +,-,/, or * between to two threes??? Is this an error in the question or in my reasoning? |

| Agreed, question states a symbol MUST be added between all the digits. Ofcourse, if that were done, your maximum total would be 72, I think. |

| I agree with the above sentiment. The teaser states that an operator must be placed between each digit.
Furthermore, the best I can do is 38:
1+1+2*2*3*3.
Shryke, I can't see how you can get 72. I assume you are thinking: 1+1*2*2*3*3 but given the precedence of * over + this comes out to 36.
As for 132.... I have no idea. |

| im going to have to agree with dazza...however the 72 can be easily gotten by adding your own parentheses for your convience. (1+1)*2*2*3*3 = 72. thats what i did. however, what i'm agreeing on, is the statement that you need to put a symbol between each digit. yet you didn't put one between the two 3's. a better way to state the question would have been, "Place +, -, *, / anywhere in the following numbers 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3 so that the total is 133." therefore not limiting where the math application symbols could be placed. |

| Using parenthesis I had 1 + 12 * (2 + 3*3) = 133.
When I saw that 72 was the max value using only single digits, I assumed I wasn't restricted to single digits.

| However parentheses were not listed as available symbols. |
