The Club 2
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Max and his best friend Cory were walking around together at recess. They passed Jack's Pack, a popular group who always got together on weekends and did fun activities. The people in Jack's Pack were Jade, Mike, John, Skye, Kira, and the leader, Jack. Jack and John had created the group last month, and so far only Mike and the three girls were in the group. Every day someone else would ask to join the group, but Jack and John must've refused to let them in, because there hadn't been any new people in the group yet. Max and Cory always wondered why.
"I'm going to go talk to them," said Cory. "I'd like to join the group and see why Jack won't let anyone else in." He walked across the blacktop to talk to Jack.
Max waited for Cory on the other side. As he was waiting, he thought about why Jack only let certain people in. He knew nobody in the group was related, and they hadn't been friends very long. Did Jack and John only let people they liked or thought were cool join? Max really hoped Cory would get some good reasons why. After a few minutes, Cory came back.
"Guess what? Jack and John let me join the group!" he exclaimed.
"That's great!" Max said. "What did you do to get in?"
"I had to tell them my name and how it was spelled. Then John said I was in," Cory explained. "I asked if you could join, but sadly they said you couldn't. It made me a little upset so I walked away. Who needs a group your best friend isn't allowed to be in? I don't see why they won't let you join, but they let me."
"I think I know why," said Max.
Why?

Why?
Hint
There's something similar about the names of the members of Jack's Pack. Plus why did they make Cory spell his name?Answer
Jack's Pack only allows people whose names have four letters. Jack, John, Mike, Kira, Jade, Skye, and Cory all have four letters in their names. Max only has three, which is why he couldn't join. Jack and John make the people wanting to join spell their names, and if they have a four letter name, they're in, and if they don't, they can't join. Max and Cory started their own club, and everyone was allowed to join.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer
