A safety vote is a vote on someone so that the voter won't be fired if they happen to miss the rest of the round.
I notice you have a "hehehe" in your post, as does the boss. Seems a little obvious, but it might be a good first round option.

The boss is trying to confuse everybody because when you look at the memo the first sentence is perfect puctuation and spelling while in the answer it is messed up
