So...
One apparent mandi...
Three players who didn't tell us how they voted...
Three players who piled on my safety vote...
No one cleared...
Colour me unimpressed!

What's wrong with us attempting a majority?
Best guess is Scrubb or Putter at this point, voting Scrubb right now (analyzing firings in WTB is not my thing)

So why didn't the boss fire a second player? May come back to bite him in towards the end of the game.
Thinking the boss is a guy.
Will place a vote later.

Take all sorrow out of life and you take away all richness, and depth, and tenderness. The capacity of sorrow belongs to our grandeur. It is the furnace that melts hearts together in love.

Sticking with my vote on Ghost Not sure why.
Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.

Ghost is actually possible. A lot of times when players 'make fun' of the boss (HA NERD!) they turn out to be the boss. You can't offend anyone if you are making fun of yourself afterall.
Will wait for other opinions, but might go with Ghost if no one has anything better

Now that I'm home, I decoded the cipher in the memo:
qabp yxlaon bp ljbiqgopp
is a keyword cipher with a keyword of "keyword" and decodes to:
this cypher is pointless
So the Boss has a strange sense of humour. Otherwise, the only interesting thing about that is that "cipher" is spelled with a "y" and not an "i".
By the way, it takes no effort to encode/decode such a message. All you have to do is go to the keyword cipher page right here on Braingle.

You had more than 12 hours left in the round to switch your vote, if you honestly believe its the job of every one else to get "approval" from you for a majority on your vote.....well...that's odd.....seeing as we have every right to vote the way we want, regardless of whether it puts you in jeapordy or not

Of far greater concern, however, is that some players are not stating their votes at all.
That said, I am logging off for the night, as I have other things to do. That means I will be off-line for more than 12 hours. I have placed a safety vote, but I'll keep it to myself for now. Go ahead and make a majority, if you wish, and I'll decide if I want to join it.
Good night!

I don't really understand people being reluctant to join a majority early on. If no majority is formed, we can't win. I understand not wanting to get fired, but the greater good should be looked at. Staying out of the majority until the final game winning one is to me akin to the player who joins the championship team right at the trade deadline. Sure, he may get the ring along with the rest of the team but as he did little to help them get there, does he really deserve it? Same thing here, you may be credited with the win for yourvstats, but you did not EARN the win and are riding on other's coattails.
I have no problem with anyone who wants to join my ghost vote, or if someone has a better idea, I'll join yours.
Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.

You have the right to vote however you wish, whether its for your own safety/self interest or not. What you can't do is then *insist* OTHER people also look out for YOUR interests. If your voting for self interest, you cant then say...hey guys make sure your votes don't get me fired....it's just silly (obviously if you have previously been cleared then that changes things). That's my opinion and I'll leave it at that
Anyway, where's Scrubb been? hope people pop in before end of night.....Ill probly join a majority in the morning, but if things stay slow.......nevermind....im switching to Ghost now to try to get votes on him......then again he hasnt voted yet so dont wanna vote a potentinal mandi..
voting Ghost but keeping my eye out

@The Spider What I think he meant was how people voted for what he voted and no body gave him credit for who he voted.

You make a valid point about a vote for ghost potentially being a wasted vote should he turn out to be a mandatory firing, but will stick with it for now as I am logging off for the night but will be back in plenty of time before the round ends to change if needed.

SOME PEOPLE don't like to join majorities in the first couple rounds until they get a better idea of who they think "MAY BE" the boss. WHY criticize anyone for playing like this? Are we really turning this game in to who has better playing strategies? We have the freedom to play anyway we wish, even if it's not to your liking. Good grief. Plus, just like last round, there was a mandi, which happens a lot in boss games, so it at times, is a waste to form majorities in the first round. Will place a vote in the morning, and I don't know who I'll be voting for at the moment.

Mandatories being around are the absolute BEST time to form a majority, you get all the reward of a clear + chance to win without any of the risk (being a lemming). Not forming a majority is the only way to waste the round where mandatory firings are in play.
I'm not demanding anyone play any particular way (so long as they dont demand it of me), but there is absolutely room to at least discuss strategy in the game.
Might change off of Ghost (in the morning) if he hasnt posted........no word from what 4 peeps yet

OK
I have had enough. I have been hurt by the comments that have been made this round, and most especially by the insinuation that I am selfish, just trying to win for my own stats, and don't play for the greater good. I don't deserve that. I have always stated my vote, and I have never lied about that, or changed it at the last minute. I have never voted for a cleared player or for myself to protect myself. I have made sure that, if I am fired, the remaining players have useful information. That is playing for the greater good.
I don't insist that people not vote in such a way as to put me on the firing list, even when I am already cleared. I don't refuse to join majorities just to save myself. One reason I don't join majorities in the first round, especially in a 10-player game, is that I don't think it's fun to risk ending the game so quickly. Also, it's not fair to the moderator. It's not fair to the Boss, either. And in my opinion, it's no fun and takes no skill to just clear player after player until you eventually discover the Boss. But I don't insist that people not join majorities; I just don't join them.
The irony is, I don't have to worry about being in a majority in this game, because I am the Rat. I didn't want there to be a majority, because I didn't want to have a cleared player. I wanted the round to be wasted. And I threw out the "colour me unimpressed" comment just to draw attention to myself, as a Rat should do. That's all.
But now, I find myself not wanting to play Who's the Boss any more. Ever again. But I can't even leave the game of my own volition, because I'm the Rat!
So, I'm going to do something I've never done before.
Boss, if you can overcome the odds and win the game on your own, that's great. But I am not going to play any more, and I don't want any credit for your win, even if you pull it off. So, I am going to ask bbgrl, to please remove me from the game, immediately.
I apologize for spoiling the fun, and I ask that, no matter the outcome, that you don't rate the game poorly.
Good-bye.

Wow, Gizzer, if my comment upset you that much, I am sorry but there is nothing i can do about it now.
It was a general comment and not aimed at you directly except were I pointed out the discrepancy in you commenting on others not stating their votes and then doing the exact same ting a short while later.
Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.

She did insinuate that she was keeping her vote to herself "for now". She would have disclosed who she voted for before the round ended, I'm sure.

The real irony is in response to your play being called "selfish" you decide to quit and disrupt the competitive balance of the game rather than grin and bear some mildly provocative comments. This is doubly odd considering as Rat your play is obviously 'agenda-driven' and different than your true playing style. This is like an actor being personally insulted when someone calls his character the 'town drunk' (or whatever random flaw).
FTR, I was asked to join and (assuming it was 15 player jumped in without looking at the roster) I would have spared some players my 'poisonous influence' had I noticed. It's too late now though

Bb I would like to apologise for my part in the drama this round. However, as Spider said, nothing said was that bad. Others have said as bad or worse and got less reaction. Things are said partially to get reactions. I did not expect the reaction it got.

Tbh I'm seriously having trouble understanding Gizzer. Why is she allowed to use certain outlandish strategies to garner a reaction and draw attention to her as a rat, yet any strategy used against her is seen as offensive in some way. That's just beyond comprehension
I would at least be somewhat sympathetic if she was a regular employee and she was being unfairly targetted, but she is playing the role of an antagonist and intentionally put herself in the spotlight using a strategy she knew would seem foreign and nonsensical by angrily chastising people for joining her supposed vote without her consent....
Anyway, that's just my two cents. Just makes 0 sense to me
