Challenge A:
Find the final number in this series:
3, 7, 13, 25, 33, 41, 57, 67, 75, 85, 101, 121, 133, 149, 167, 172, 178, 198, 222, 240, 259, 265, 289, 313, 334, 354, 378, 402, 474, ???
Solution:
The easiest way to solve Challenge A was to recognize that it was an ascending series, and count up from 475 until you reach the correct number, which is 530. I know a few people felt guilty about using this technique, but that is not necessary. I expected players would do that if they couldn't determine a pattern, which is why this challenge was selected as the first challenge, where no hint would be available. And, as one player so wisely noted, the counting technique bought another 24 hours in the game in which to figure out what the series means.
HScott13 and Trillionaire, I am sorry that you could not find the solution in time. However, you are certainly welcome to continue playing from the sidelines, and I have re-issued your invitation to the Map Room.

So is there supposed to be a hint somewhere for the second challenge?
nevermind...

Just for the record... I do love to read...
but anyone who knows me at all knows I would much prefer a trip to Italy over France.
[See my So you think you know the pineapple quiz link in my wiki]
I haven't gotten anywhere but frustrated with the 2nd challenge...
and yes... that is including the hint... rather useless if you don't watch television.
Fractions are romantic.

After looking at this challenge for over 24 hours, I find myself in my office quoting the scarecrow....
"If I only had a brain".

my vote is saved!!
what happens if no one gets the 2nd challenge?
"Fall down again Bella?" "No Emmet, I punched a werewolf in the face."

Another hint could be given for Round 3, if requested, but if no one gets it, people will be eliminated, based on when they solved Challenge A, until the game ends. Then I will gather up all the pulled hair and make some wigs for charity or something, and start a new game with challenge C.
However, I don't think it will come to that.

I decided the answer could be....
Gizzer_Crazy, but that didn't work either (just kidding buddy, its the frustration talking).
It will probably be something so simple and obvious, I will end up laughing at myself.

My vote is locked.
Giz, you sound so sure someone will solve this one. I'm glad someone is sure. I was going to pull out my husband's hair, then I remembered he was bald.

This one is really hard. I have tried so much stuff. Can I just solve the first puzzle again?

I wonder if Gizzer would take a monetary bribe?
Looking at the roadblock, either no one has solved it yet or the hangman clues have not been updated.

A bribe?!? I'd look offended but that's hard to do when you are laughing at all the witty comments.
*passes Giz a bag of wooden nickels*
That outta just about cover the cost of my stay in the looney bin.

I'd rename the Map Room the Asylum, but that's been used already!
Piney, you reminded me of my mother's 55th birthday. For one of her gifts, I went to a coin store and bought two nickels from the year she was born.

OMG... it actually took me a minute to get it...
Nickel = 5.... so two nickels is 55...
Guess my frazzles are showing.

I see the roadblock was updated, congrats to whoever figured out challenge B.

I would stop being witty if I could move on. Or be twice as witty.
And where is the hangman? I didn't get to read all of the posts at the beginning of the game, but people have mentioned hangman, and I can't find it.

Well, whoever solved the second challenge, Kudos.
Giz, are you still going to give another hint in the next round for the second challenge? Of course, it'll only be good for me if I don't get eliminated this round and right now that is a very high possibility.

Yes, there will be a second hint given. It only takes one person to request a hint. Someone already did request a hint privately, and now you've requested one publicly.
As far as elimination goes, you do not necessarily have to solve Challenge B to survive to the next round. (That doesn't mean you should stop trying to solve Challenge B!)
Those who did not solve Challenge A were eliminated; everyone else now has a check-in time and at least one challenge solved. Only the player/alliance in last place will be eliminated. The rest will continue on.

I don't intend to stop trying. All I meant by my above statement was I don't know when I solved the first challenge compared to others. I may be one of those in last place and eliminated this round, unless of course I solve the second challenge. Its just not looking good right now.
You know me and my one track mind. I have tried some new tactics but I am getting nowhere. Maybe I should dance for you so I won't get eliminated. *goes off to try the Charleston, lands hard on my behind........I guess dancing is not my forte.*

The second and third paragraphs of my previous post were not directed specifically at you, cin. I do know you won't stop trying!
I knew that too Giz. I am just frazzled as Piney said. I need that straight jacket again.

OK everyone, I'm signing off for the night now. Good luck and have fun!

OK, Round 2 is over, and I am pleased to say that once again we have no mandatory firings.
We will lose a solo player however, when Round 3 starts.
Keep working, everyone! If you are stuck, there will be new hints when Round 3 starts, hopefully late this afternoon or early evening.

I have a theory about who that solo player is. It has to be the butler. It's always the butler. He would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling kids.
