Weird Ribbons
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
Fred, Bob, and Tom were in a contest to decide who had made the best butter cow (a statue of a cow made entirely out of butter) for the Iowa State Fair. The ribbons were not typical in that the color of the ribbons for the top three places were green, orange, and purple, although not necessarily in the order. Using the clues, determine what place they finished in (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and what color ribbon they received.
1. Fred finished after Bob.
2. Tom did not get second place.
3. Only Tom got a ribbon with a color that did not share any letters with his name.
4. The purple ribbon is for a later place than the green ribbon.
5. The complementary color for the first place ribbon is blue.
1. Fred finished after Bob.

To make as many mistakes as I did on a short puzzle is very embarrassing. I guess I get the red-face ribbon. Finally got it, though.
i didn't get it - and it's supposed to be ez!!
I fisrt saw how small the grid was, I though this one was going to be easy...and it wasn't....tricky, tricky, tricky! I liked it!!!
I agree. The grid was so small and there were only 3 people, so I thought it would be really easy. Wrong - this one really made me work. Very good job. A very deceiving teaser - looks easy but really isn't!
I again got mislead by your teaser, I thought it was going to be easy, as it was only small but it was very clever. Well done. I did manage to do it with some lucky guess work and I am glad i payed attention in art lessons it helped me with that clue. Super teaser.
i was also mislead by the first and second clue. i thought i had gotten it, but then i read the 2nd clue and i was all wrong!
nice teaser!
nice teaser!
Good Job!
Grr, crazy complimentary color schemes! I can't dress myself properly; can I be expected to know what color goes with what? After I saw an answer was wrong I checked out your "complimentary color" thing online... and found out things I never knew about color that I may be able to use to look like the average well-dressed human being! I'll give you top marks on this one, but be nice to the uncoordinated color-blind people out there next time!
That was a really good one! Nice. mahalo.
I'm glad I remembered my color-wheel. I enjpyed it!
Good Job...
i thought it was easy, well not the complementary clue, but after a quick search on google i got it!
didn't like it very much.
Ok puzzle, but impossible to solve if you know nothing about the color wheel, complimentary colors, etc. should be able to complete the puzzle with info provided in the clues, not have to search outside info.
I don't often give high fun to low difficulty, but this one was great!
Grid is all messed up for me (Google Chrome, if it matters): 1st/2nd/3rd is stacked on top of Fred. Green/Orange/Purple on top of 3rd, with the corresponding boxes below Tom ...
Fortunately it's a small grid, so not too hard to manage (any larger, I'd have to go to paper), but did add to the difficulty.
Agree with the comment on complimentary colors - I had to google that one, which shouldn't be necessary.

For Cut Dragon, I find Opera browser works best for logic grids.
I agree with many that this is a deceptive puzzle, and in my ignorance I had to consult Google concerning complementary colours, but a good, if sneaky, puzzle.
