Trade-Off
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
The answers to the two clues in each line below are six letter words that differ by only one letter. Example, if you trade off the p from stripe with the letter k in the same position you get strike. (chevron=stripe, hit=strike)
1. sew___swap____
2. ravine__mounted gun____
3. grumble___green club___
4. short doze___Tabby's treat___
5. stronghold ___ranch animals___
HintThe order of the letters will not change.

| lol @ pisco
I got em! Oh, shoot, all cept the last one, cattle, castle. I didn't rack my brain very hard tho, because what's not flooded with um, ya know, stuff when you have a cold, is warped by cold medicine, took a double dose, ewwwww, too much! Anyway, your teasers are always fun, and very neat and tidy without a lot of errors or vaguenesses, I appreciate that, thanks!

| Another good one, Peppamint!
Although I, too, was thinking "Battle/Cattle" for #5, Peppamint's answers do fit the definitions better. So there you go, Oneburtney. |

| I had to cheat on the first one as the six letter word category threw me. Once I saw how it went it was a piece of cake. I also thought a green club was some sort of fraternal org, and Tiger the spaz prez.lol. |

| It was a good teaser, but I did not get the last one as I do not think of a castle as a stronghold. Queen Elizabeth lives in a castle. Hardly a strong hold. The Alamo was a stronghold. |
