5 friends, ages 12, 15, 17, 18 and 19, went on a trail ride. Each was matched to a horse that suited their size, experience and personality. From the clues provided, determine each friend's first and last name, (two last names were Carey and Williams) their age, the name of the horse they rode, and what position they rode on the trail. Robin, Drew, and Phil are boys; Barbara and Bonnie are girls.
1. The 5 friends were Robin, Mr. Hunt, the 15 year old, Shamwow's rider and the boy who was first in the line.
2. Bedazzler's rider was younger than Miss McGraw, who was younger than Drew.
3. The horses were represented by: Phil, Steamboy, Mr. Walters, Barbara and the one that was 3rd in line.
4. The 5th rider was 2 years younger than Topsy Turvy's rider. On Robin's next birthday, he will be the same age as the girl who rode 2nd.
5. Carey, Bonnie and the 12 year old loved the ride! Gazelle's rider and the 4th rider did not!

Good one!
loved this teaser
Good one! Really made me have to think.
I finally solved it! And luckily before any obvious brain damage!
This is my second time on it and I still cannot get it!!! Are you sure it's solvable with only the clues given!?!
There was not enough information. You had to take too many guesses.
No need to take a guess. From the clues, you can determine that one girl is 15 and the other girl is 17 or 18. Thus, neither girl can be 12. From clues 2 & 4 Robin and Drew can't be the 12 year old so the 12 year old has to be Phil. Once you know that Phil is the 12 year-old, the rest of the answers fall into place. Very nicely worded puzzle.
I could never figure out who was 17 and who was 18.
It is solvable, took me a couple times.
Took me a couple of restarts. I'm not sure why, unless it was carelessness, as it's fairly straightforward. But there are some good logical deductions you need in the process. Nice puzzle!
Challenging = FUN Thank you!
Excellent Puzzle! Very fun because it wasn't straightforward. As others noted, no guesses are needed.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm surprised it wasn't rated as being more difficult. My scratch sheet of paper is a mess, but I solved it.

I did the solving and it came out like this
12yo, 1st, Phil, Williams, Bedazzler
15yo, 3rd, Bonnie, McGraw, Steambow
17yo, 5th, Robin, Walters, Gazelle
18yo, 2nd, Barbara, Carey, Shamwow
19yo, 4th, Drew, Hunt, Topsy Turvy
It perfectly fits with the clues even with this solution

I enjoyed this one. There is enough information to get a unique solution. To address Authwarth's comment: Bonnie can't ride 3rd and ride Steamboy, since that conflicts with clue 3.
