Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
I'm coupled with a famous American dell
Which is linked to a device on your desk as well
Of this thing's brain, I am located at the base
And instances of my tail are found on its face
Should you be so inclined as to truncate my tail
Then you'll have a character who's landed in jail
When the chips are down, and you may be feeling blue
I'll be glad to furnish a new supply for you
What am I?

Answer
siliconlines 1-2: A "dell" is a valley. Silicon Valley is a high-tech dominated region of the San Francisco Bay area, which is in California, USA.
Silicon chips are used inside desktop (and other) computers.
lines 3-4: A computer's "brain" or central processing unit (CPU) is part of an integrated circuit (IC) chip, otherwise referred to as a silicon chip.
"My tail" is "icon" (sil-icon) and icons are found on a computer's screen ("its face").
lines 5-6: If you "truncate my tail" ("icon") then the result being referred to is "con", which is "a character who's landed in jail".
lines 7-8: The phrase "the chips are down" is alluding to silicon chips. Therefore, "a new supply" is referring to a new supply of silicon chips.
