Vacation Time
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
Five people (Adam, Betty, Charlie, Darla, and Eddy) went on vacation. They all went to different locations (Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Denmark, and England), were gone for different amounts of time (1 to 5 weeks), had different colored luggage (black, red, blue, green, and yellow), and live in different cities (Albany, Boston, Charleston, Duluth, and Eureka). Using the clues below, figure out where each of them went, how long they were gone, what color their luggage is and where they are from.
1. The black luggage was purchased in Albany.
2. The person from Duluth was gone longer than the person who went to Australia but was gone less time than the person with the red luggage.
3. Charlie had less than two weeks vacation from work for his trip.
4. Adam, Darla, and Eddy all lived in the same time zone.
5. Adam's luggage paid homage to his favorite baseball team.
6. Eddy was in England for less time than the person from Boston was away.
7. The person who went to Canada took her green luggage with her.
8. The five travelers are Darla, the person who went to Australia, the person gone for 3 weeks, the man with the red luggage, and the person from Charleston.
9. Adam didn't need to use his expertise in Spanish on his trip, which lasted less than 5 weeks.
10. The person with the yellow luggage was gone longer than the person from Eureka.

Made me think!
My time was occupied for a while
I really liked it - very challenging, but fun!!!
Very good teaser - not too hard and not too easy. Enjoyed this one.
A toughy! I hadn't realized until I had finished with all the frustration how much I really enjoyed it. Good one.
Good Job... spent some time rubbing my brain cells together with this one... (all 3 of 'em!)...
i was doing great until some sort of knowledge of america was required (eg, baseball teams, time zones etc). can i suggest that when people do things like that they explain them in the hints for those of us that have no idea (eg, blahs favourite baseball team is
i was doing great until some sort of knowledge of america was required (eg, baseball teams, time zones etc). can i suggest that when people do things like that they explain them in the hints for those of us that have no idea (eg, blahs favourite baseball team is x thus allowing us to at least have a chance of figuring out what colour they might be, and the same with timezones, perhaps you could list what they are...especially since i have no idea what half those two letter abbreviations stand for)
otherwise it was shaping up to be a good puzzle :d

I don't understand those things either, but I use Google or another search engine. ex: Boston baseball. It's not harder than that.
Awesome Teaser! One of the best ones I've done yet.
I had to make a chart based on the "5 travellers are..." clue and then things fell into place after that.
Very Well Done!
ummmmm i couldnt read the grid
Well done!
to hard for my tiny brain
Excellent teaser! Very well written!
Very good..liked the gender clues and the geographic cluies. Took me longer than most
Yeah, I know nothing about baseball, so that made the homage clue a tad difficult. I agree that specific things such as that should be given a hint or something.
Yay for using a city in Minnesota! To all of you who were complaining about the time zone thing- it was in the hint! When you have 3 east coast cities, a city in Minnesota and a city in California, I think it's pretty obvious which three are in the same time zone! And I agree with the person who mentioned using google to figure out the baseball part, I'm not a huge baseball fan either, but you obviously have access to the internet since you're on this website, so just open another browser window and hop on google and it's extremely easy to figure out that it's the Boston Red Sox.
Let me first say that I think that this is a very good teaser and that I find nothing wrong with the Logic, but to be the devil's advocate I could say that once Adam had lived in Hughsville PA and was close friends at that time with Ed Ott who is from Hughsville and formerly Played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and I could say that Adam's fovorite baseball team is still the Hughsville GREEN Dragon. . . see where I am heading, but wasn't It Sherlock Holmes who said that the simplest and most obvious answer is usually the correct one????
WHAT I AM SAYING IS THAT SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO MAKE ASSUMPTIONS AND SEE WHERE THOSE ASSUMTIONS TAKE YOU AND IF THEY PROVE TO BE FALLACIOUS THEN YOU MUST GO BACK AND CORRECT THOSE FALLACIES!!!!!!!!!
easy but fun
Excellent teaser. Knowledge of baseball isn't important. Clue 5 isn't needed.
with no knowledge of american geography, sports and world language, all i could make out of the clues IS (adam's or eddie's)red luggage (shopped in boston/eureka) being away for 4 weeks...Aussie's tourist is packing in blue/black bag for a short trip of half a month or less, but nothing surer...
the fact that oceania goer's from either albany or eureka is undecided too...
There are several Deluths and Eurekas. Additionally clue #4 does not exclude the other two cities from being in the same time zone or there being other people in that time zone. Not your best puzzle.
Somehow I don't think that when people hear 'Duluth', they'll think of Georgia. And I also doubt that 'Eureka' brings up images of the outskirts of St. Louis.
Go Canada!! Any1 here from Canada??
I enjoyed this one, and thought that it was a bit challenging as well. I did not however think the baseball clue or geography was that difficult. I used Google for the things that I did not know, because I am not a baseball fan, and did the same for the cities. My biggest problem, was not the fault of anyone but my own. I got the country Bolvia mixed up with Bulgaria, and could not figure out the Spanish clue. Then one of my burnend out brain cells kicked in, and I realised that Boliva is in S. America not Eastern Europe. Geeeeez I felt stupid especially since I did not bother to Google any of the countries, because I thought I knew where they were. I thought the puzzle itself was well written and interesting, and I had a lot of fun working it out. Remember folks, Google is your friend!!!!!!
I loved the teaser, but I do think that the "hint" should have been in the clue. I had several choices of states for the cities & the time zone clue threw me. (I ignored the baseball clue & still made it!)
For the person who stated that they were sure no-one would consider Duluth GA as the one they were talking about - let me state that one is the ONLY Duluth I happened to know about. :-)

The baseball clue didn't bother me because it was not needed (although at the time I first read it, I asked how will we know that their favorite team is in the city in which they live) but the geography question did. You should not need to consult google or outside material to solve these puzzles. It was impossible to solve if you did not know which time zones these places are, and as someone from WA with very little geographic knowledge of the east coast, I had to make an assumtion or look it up. Otherwise this was a great teaser. Thanks!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
My brain hurts, but genius nonetheless.
My brain hurts, but genius nonetheless.
awesome but I really had to solve by process of elimination and I also cheated a little to insure i got the time zones correct by going on line at looked at the time zone map. With that being the only cheat so to speak cheat, I got all correct answers. Great Teaser! Good Job!
