Couch Potatoes
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
This logic grid is a little bit different from ones that we are used to seeing. It has two sets of clues. The harder set is listed below and an easier set is in the hint.
There are five guys (Dewey, Cheatem, Howe, Hackneyed, and Jokendunnit) who have different favorite snacks (bacon botty, Grandma Utz potato chips, pecan log, topfenstrudel, and Vegemite), sit on different seats (Barcalounger, chaise, couch, Lay-Z-Boy, and slipper chair), and watch different things on TV (The A-Team, Family Guy, the Marx Brothers, The Simpsons, and the Three Stooges). Using the clues provided, can you determine who eats what snack while watching what show, and sitting in what seat?
1. The five programs are the Three Stooges, the one watched by Hackneyed, the one watched on the couch, the one watched while Grandma Utz chips are being eaten, and The A-Team.
2. Someone's seat, snack, and show all have letters that are rarely used in English, but are often used in Euclidean Geometry.
3. The five people are Jokendunnit, the one who eats pecan logs, the one who watches the Marx Brothers, Dewey, and the one who sits on a chaise lounge.
4. The owner of the barcalounger loves action shows, but hates Vegemite.
5. The five snacks are Vegemite, the one eaten on the Lay-Z-Boy, the one eaten while Family Guy is being watched, the one eaten by Howe, and topfenstrudel.
6. Dewey, who watches the Three Stooges, does not eat meat, but does like his slipper chair.
7. The five seats are the slipper chair, the one with bacon crumbs in it, the one Cheatem uses, the Barcalounger, and the one that The Simpsons is watched from.
8. The owner of the couch loves pecans, and snacks on them while watching The Simpsons.

Hint
1. Howe likes that The Simpsons has a weekly couch gag because he likes to watch from his couch.2. Jokendunnit, who likes topfenstrudel, watches TV from his Barcalounger.
3. The slipper chair is covered with the same Vegemite crumbs as the Three Stooges DVD box set.
4. Hackneyed likes to watch Family Guy while eating a bacon botty.
5. Cheatem loves the nostalgic feelings that the flavor of Grandma Utz potato chips and the Marx Brothers bring him.
6. Grandma Utz chips and chaises do not go together.
Answer

did the easy clues and managed to get it right first time!!
The hard clues are not that difficult (if you're lucky), but they work out very strangely, making it very enjoyable!
Most enjoyable! I liked the oddball names, snacks, etc. The hard clues were just hard enough. Thanks!
I went back and did the easy clues, and they are as fascinating as the hard ones! Good ones!
Good one! I did both, and got it right on both! Interesting teaser! Good job!
Even though I really dislike LGs, this one was bearable. You are one of the few LG makers that I can stand.
i liked this LG teaser
I tried the hard clues first, and got it right!!!
This was fun, thanks!
This was fun, thanks!
I know nothing about Euclidean geometry or action shows so I was not able to logically deduce. I had to make some assumptions and hope I was right.
Very nice puzzle. Am sending it to some mates to try......
I guessed the geometry one using Z's and X's..
Cheers

I think I could have figured it out with just the hard clues, if I had've known the clue about Euclidian geometry... what does that refer to anyway?
Good teaser though. I liked that there were two sets of clues.

I finished this puzzle using the first set of clues only. I have no idea what sybbols Euclidean Geometry uses, but guessed the "X" and "Z" since they are both used in Algebra. When I finished the puzzle and then looked at the "hint" clues, I found them to be answers rather than clues. I liked the "the five people are ... ," "the five shows are ... " format, but almost didn't even try this puzzle because it said you had to look at hints for the rest of the clues. When you look at hints it means you can't solve the problem yourself -- sort of like cheating a solitaire. I'm glad they weren't needed, though.
i admit it - im lazy - i did the easy clues first but i did get it right!!!
YAY! I actually got it right on my first try! Really good one! Fairly easy, took me about 10 minutes using the solving grid. Keep it up!
Good on ya...
Euclid was this famous old mathematician guy, and yeah, the letters ARE x, y, z (variables)
pretty easy teaser, although from the instructions, you'd think it would be super difficult...good job, anyway

Yeah, I thought it was pretty easy with the hard clues. I liked it, though! Good job!
I thought Good Eats would've made it into the show lineup.
I haven't tried the easy clues yet, but I almost got it with the hard ones... I somehow got the strudel and vegemites switched. Oh well. Good teaser!
wow this one was diffrent but i got it and even enjoyed it
I'm glad you gave the choice; I chose the hard clues and Googled Euclidean Geo. (I never knew that what variables were called )
Great teaser!
Great teaser!
Coming to the table kind of late, but used the 1st set of clues and don't need the grid. Just set up tables for each Category and use elimination. Great puzzle!
Very fun - thank you
Thank you, that was fun!
I don't know how you distinguish between Bacon Botty (really? There's a snack called that? {childish snort}) and Grandma Utz, or indeed Family Guy and Marx Brothers. All contain the geometry letters (x, y, z) and "rarely used in English" is too subjective to make a logical deduction.
Also, the correct term is "chaise longue". It's French for "long chair".
