Brain Teasers
I'm Confused!
Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
I used to think that I'm important
But now people tell me I'm not.
I can't even control where I'm going.
But I'm quite sure that it's not hot.
I cut in front of other shapes,
Going towards the light.
Now tell me, who am I?
While I wait in everlasting night.
But now people tell me I'm not.
I can't even control where I'm going.
But I'm quite sure that it's not hot.

Going towards the light.
Now tell me, who am I?
While I wait in everlasting night.
Hint
I used to be named Planet XWhen seen in 1930,
But now I have a different name
Suggested by Venetia Burney.
Answer
I am the planet Pluto,The only one.
At the edge of our system,
Far from the sun.
Lines 1 and 2 are from that Pluto used to be considered a planet, but then was changed to a dwarf planet.
Lines 3 and 4 are from that Pluto can't change where it goes, and that it is far from the sun.
Lines 5 and 6 are from that Pluto's orbit cuts closer to the sun than Neptune for a while, before going back to the outside.
Line 7 is from that Pluto is so far away from the sun that even the day on the planet feels like night, and so night lasts forever.

I didn't understand the riddle. I only got the answer cause of the hint...
That is a cool one, thanks for posting the teaser.
Very nice teaser
Is a dwarf person still a person? Come on space cadets in charge of what is and is not a planet, where's your PC ?
Easy but well written. Bravo. Make that. Plu-to.
Boy was I off base.
I'm embarassed to admit just how far off base I was. Then I looked at the hint and started over, coming to the right conclusion. Good one.

Poor Pluto
I got it, I loved it, I conquered!
Fun!
Fun!
To easy. But I liked the creativity.
I thought it was a comet!!
I didn't look at the hint - that would have given it to me.
Good one! Thanks!
Good one! Thanks!
awww poor pluto!
Make Pluto a planet again!!
I must admit I didn't get it right. Good teaser. Thanks for posting.
Haha, I thought to myself, "Okay, the only answer I'm going to be able to come up with is Pluto, so I'm not even going to bother." And then I looked at the answer...
Great teaser!
Great teaser!
The hint gave it away but without it, I'd never have come up the answer.
I thought it was either Pluto or an eclipse but when I read the hint it kinda narrowed it down XD very fun and well-worded, if a tidbit simple.
This isn't the type of teaser I'm very good at solving. Cleverly written though! Thanks! Have a beautiful, warm, sunny Sunday, friends!
wow that's depressing
thought it was either the moon or a moth("Going towards the light")
pluto also happens to be my favorite planet
hey pluto!

hey pluto!
i love that! it's so poetic, if you know what i'm saying.
AROB, what can I say. Hi to great friends.
Not a clue until I read the hint.
I got it with the first 2 lines.
That was not too hard to figure out. Nice teaser and fun! Thanks for posting!
That was an awesome teaser! Very well written and informative! I guessed a star so I was definitely wrong, but at least I was in the right ballpark!
This was easy if you are familiar with Pluto's unique history and orbit. I really like the way the answer is made clear completely through abstracted references. This was really well done.
Didn't get this one. The only Pluto I am familiar with is from Disney. I didn't have a clue with my riddle for some reason. Maybe that would have helped .
Fun and challenging teaser; science is one of my worst subjects though I came up with the moon and Pluto for possible answers. I decided on Pluto after reading the hint.
