Answer
Al - German Shepherd - 3yMary - Springer - 12y
JJ - Mutt - 6 months
Eric - Beagle - 10y
Eric's dog cannot be the youngest nor the second youngest, because two dogs ages have to combine to make that dog's age. It can't be the oldest, so it must be 10 years.
Mary's dog is not the German Shepherd nor the mutt because their ages combined are younger than her dog's age. Her dog must be the oldest and the Springer.
Al's dog is older than the mutt. So his dog must be the German Shepherd and 3 years.
JJ has what's left. Mutt at 6 months.
