Word Jumble 4 - The Gemstone Series
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
Unscramble the words below, then take the letters from each word as instructed to form another word that is the answer to this teaser:
LIUQA Take letters 1 & 2
PDIET Take letters 1,2 & 4
ETRSO Take letters 1 & 4
DONU Take letters 1 & 4
Unscramble the letters you collected... what do you get?
Answer
LIUQA Take letters 1 & 2 - QUAIL, take Q,U
PDIET Take letters 1,2 & 4 - TEPID, take T,E,I
ETRSO Take letters 1 & 4 - STORE, take S,R
DONU Take letters 1 & 4 - UNDO, take U,O
Unscramble the above to get 'Turquoise'.
Turquoise is a beautiful blue gemstone known since ancient times for its beauty. Through today, it is believed to bring wealth to one who wears it. In some cultures, it is known to act as a talisman to avoid any untoward accidents or dangers in life.

| Oh Brainster, what a gem. I loved it, and thanks for the history info on what I think is one of the most beautiful stones ever. I had a huge knuckle-buster ring made by a Native American at a National Campvention of NCHA in Colorado many years ago and it just grows more beautiful with age, just like me. Ha ha! Great teaser. I love thw word jumbles. More please. |

| Good one Brainster!!
Your directions were very clear, and that's so important in making a good teaser. Plus, the answer, turquoise was a more challenging word to unscramble than some. Good job! |

brainster
Apr 14, 2006
| Thanks for your comments people! I think it's funny how nothing else enters your mind when you already know the answer you want to reach! I never thought of 'quite sour' even once! Interesting to see that many of you did! |

| Also about the hint, I tried adding one through corrections, as I want to do another theme in my next Word Jumble set, but the correction was not approved. So I don't know how to make this easier! |

| The third word in the series threw me because it can also be rearranged to spell "roset". That obviously did not help me to unscramble the final word |

| This kept me busy for five minutes. I guess I cheated - I used the anagram machine thingy. Still, it was a fun teaser! Good job!
By the way, the third word could also be "rotes". "Store" makes more sense. |
