Behold The Night
Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
They set forth to behold the night,
Surrounding the dark with their gorgeous sight.
A sailor's guide, a child's fears,
They're lost to sight as daytime nears.
From Heaven, their tears descend,
Make a wish before darkness ends.
Surrounding the dark with their gorgeous sight.
A sailor's guide, a child's fears,
They're lost to sight as daytime nears.
From Heaven, their tears descend,
Make a wish before darkness ends.

Good one! Didn't get the part about the child's fears though...
I liked it, good teaser.

Very easy but very well written.
very good except the part about child's fears.
Kids are afraid of stars? but nice one anyway! (:
Very good teaser! I was first trying to think of a constellation, but then decided it was just stars and not in any special arrangement!
Nicely written!

too easy
Good quiz, yes, children can be afraid of the dark and stars can make it a little more comfortable...
i got it! yay! really easy but very nice and poetic!
Liked it, but didn't understand the remark about stars' tears. Don't know that I've ever seen a star cry.
I agree 100# with cuteandditzy. Nice easy teaser, lovely poem.
cute poem...very easy to solve.
It was lovely and amusing. Riddles always remind me of great quests and Herculean challenges
Well written.but get real. The answer was so easy.
liked it, it was a peaceful thing to read first thing in the morning. I didn't understand 'their tears descend'...but then theres lots of things in life i don't understand, so I'm not going to worry about it.
I assume the "tears" was a reference to falling stars, which aren't actually stars.
nice riddle. very well written, even it is easy.
nice riddle. very well written, even it is easy.
Beautiful poem, easy though.
I am so today.
I thought it was the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights.
I will be seeing stars if I don't soon have a Cuppa Tea.
Nice Poem, Good Riddle

Nice Poem, Good Riddle
oh my goodness! I liked it but I must say, these comments on here are ridiculous! It's a riddle for cripes sake! This is exactly why I don't enter anything because of people's need for EXACT everything. I knew what it was regardless whether falling stars are "ACTUALLY" stars or not. And figured the children's tears were because they don't like the dark usually. Lighten up people!
Good one, I love easy riddles.
Good one, not too hard. Well done.
A bit too obvious... more like a lovely poem rather than a teaser since there was nothing to figure out or solve.
Anyway, it was beautifully written.

I agree with jaydeco 110 %. Why do some people have to nit pick every little detail? Just enjoy the teasers and riddles and don't be so picky about em.
I really enjoyed it and the fact that it was easy only allowed me to get the answer quicker! Just the way I like em!!!!

A little too obvious, but a nice poem anyway.
Two words NI CE1!
This was easy but beautiful poetry. Thanks GrilledCheese
Well worded and easy.
For those who criticize the nitpickers...those people are only trying to get an explanation for the parts they don't understand. I really can't blame them for that...we should be more tolerant of them and enjoy the opportunity this forum affords to discuss the teasers and get other ideas about them. We are richer for it.
It was so easy I thought I had to be wrong. Nice riddle.
Way easy!
nice riddle
OK..easy one..but yesterday's was hard. Maybe tomorrow will be right in the middle. Thanks, Grilled cheese
A little easy, but very nice poem.
Good one, even though it's easy it's very well written!
Ok that was really easy and what kid is afraid of stars?
Not afraid of stars, but of the dark
way too easy...no thought necessary. Give us a challenge
No one said they had to be hard thanks for the comments
fun but easy...you have a gift of words cheese... keep 'em coming
I really like this one, great job, and good creative thinking
Very well written. Enjoyed the poetry that shed light on the solution nicely! Good job!
I loved it. Stars are a wonderful sight on a cold clear winters night.
Thanks for the super teaser.

Thanks for the super teaser.

Settly down guys. My post was in response to Yorkshire-Boy's question. I was just kidding about the "not actually stars" part. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I was hoping you guys would get that with the happy face. It doesn't really matter wether they are stars or not, what matters is that they are called "falling stars".
Good work, but really easy.
Pretty...
I answered parrot, bats and an owl.
Anyways, it's a very nice riddle.
Anyways, it's a very nice riddle.
It's very easy.. Just from the title, you can answer it!!
I mean, well, if you think of the night, what comes to your mind 1st? might be moon or stars, right? but well, the riddle sounds great. you should consider indulging into poetries!
Hey jaydeco and crazylady, it says at the bottom to add a comment, and that is what people are doing. It does not say don't knit pick or be nice...just add a comment!! Here is my comment, nice teaser, but a little unclear.
I don't always get riddles, so I don't mind easy ones. 'Sailors' guide' gave it to me. Pretty poem.
I agree that some people are unnecessarily harsh in their comments, interestingly the ones I have found to be the most critical are the people who have never submitted a quiz or a teaser themselves, but delight in telling those of us who do what we are doing wrong. It is not as easy as some people seem think.
You make it easy, people complain (as above), you make it hard, people complain.
There is just no pleasing some people.

Lovely poem and nicely written. Thanks for a good one! Guiding the sailors and making a wish were the clues that gave me the answer! and anyone who submits a teaser is a STAR as far as I'm concerned!!
Well written, but too easy.
Have a great day to my special friends.

I knew it was something bright. I actually thought it was a lampost. Oh well, I was close.
i liked it
Again, I commented in 2011 so no need to do it again. Very funny comments and fun reading them
I rated it easy/fun.
I got it, but I sort of hoped it was a trick question. Not sure the connection to "tears" but a good poem none the less.
Easy, fun & a lovely poem.
Gentle start to my morning. I hope each one of you has a wonderful day-
