Ok, ok, class, settle down. We are going to go ahead and get started. Now, I expect you all to be well behaved, and hard working students. Yes, demo, I'm looking at you. I know you have all been enjoying your summer vacation, but the time has finally come to exercise your brains. For your contemplation, consider the following math problem:
Imagine a point originally located at the origin reflected over the line x=2.
Warm Up Question: How far away is the new image from your starting point?
Harder: Is there another line you could reflect over to end up that many units away from your starting point in a different direction?
Challenge: How many possible lines are there?

No, you do not receive anything for solving this problem. You simply earn the respect and admiration from myself and your fellow classmates. Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves.

While discussing this incredible Geometry problem, don't forget their is a traitor among you. This hooligan is attempting to throw us off the pursuit of knowledge, this class clown is attempting to distract us from the finer points of learning. Please help me track them down so that we can return to the enriching task ahead of us this year.

Mocha, are we supposed to PM you answers or discuss here?

Safety for Hadliegh... just because I can.

Now, some of you may know, I just finished the latest 1 vs 100 game in the talk box as "The One". I made it to the 10th round and was defeated because of a Geometry question... so you will forgive me if I do not even try and solve this question, and I am not a traitor, just an older guy who never took this subject and in my current job and life style, I see no reason to learn it! Dang, and I was told after the fact I could have asked someone in Braingle not playing the game!

I guess I am already getting a failing grade in this class! Darn... and I waited so long to sit down in the chairs that were made for 1st graders! My knees are hitting the bottom of the desk. Hey teacher... I need to use the little boys room... do I need a hall pass?

Edit - I changed my vote from 4demo to Hadleigh. I know some people just come on and vote for the first person on the list, and I do not want to put 4demo in a majority vote without a better reason!

Since nobody else has had a go, I'll attempt it:

The new image is {edit} away from the origin when reflected over x=2.
{edit}: I can think of another {edit} offhand which are {edit}. There are some {edit}as well which I'll have a go at when I haven't just woken up late for class in the real world!! I'd guess there are {edit} which give this result.
I haven't done maths academically for a long time so please be gentle when correcting this

I handed in my homework assignment.

"Foods" class is not a class I took - I had "Cooking" in Home Economics.

Safety for nidhogg.

So, I did not make it clear what was to be done with the homework assignment, but several people have indicated they would prefer the answers to be private so all can enjoy the challenge. As such, I'm going to edit nighogg's answer out of his post... not because he did anything wrong, but because I'm clarifying.

For those who have seen his answer, it is not complete, so keep thinking on!

Now Randy, yes you may go to the bathroom, but hurry up! You don't want to miss recess!

First off, I'm placing a safety vote for Randy (RGW).

Hey! Who took my calculator? (As if it would have really helped this "unmathy" person!)

Teach, you said we have a quiz - is it an open book quiz?

Sorry guys, I guess I misinterpreted the "Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves"
Hope I didn't spoil it for anyone

 Posted: 08:54AM Oct 15, 2013

Now if I answered that question everyone would know I cheated. It's a well known secret that math, geometry, algebra or anything even remotely resembling such is not my thing. As I've explained many times, it it can't be figured out on my fingers and toes, it doesn't need to be figured out. However, if you want to ask me about children's stories, or musicians or the history of playing cards, I'll give it a shot.

I also wonder about the "foods class" is this a new subject this year? Last year when I took Home Economics we made some pretty yummy stuff, but we also learned about other things as well. Sewing, for example. I even made a pillow case and a skirt with my own hands even if Mrs. Smith had to make me tear out some stitches and start over a couple of times.

So... safety for Froggygg.

Edit: Vote confirmed

I'm sure it was meant to throw us off, but the Boss Answer says "Foods class because of all the yummy treats we get to make" making it sound as if the Boss is still in school...

I found an interesting article.

 Posted: 12:13PM Oct 15, 2013

I just realized that 4demo already placed a vote on Froggy, so I'll change my safety to TanCW. I really don't want to be in any majority this early in the game.

I'm assuming that the boss may be someone young-ish...

Changed my vote to buu because he has food in his interests and I believe he's young....

Doesn't say much though...

Safety voting for nid for now. As for the psych, it could be anyone. Except me. Though I don't expect you to believe that, I never did foods in school, and I don't know the firt thing about making any foods.

Sorry for not being around this round, I have been busy working and Have had a really busy personal schedule the last few weeks. Though I do have the time to squeeze a game t the moment.

Stewie.

Did you know: that the ocean holds nearly 20 million tons of gold but most of it is diluted. Each liter of seawater contains about 13 billionths of a gram. So there is enough gold on the sea floor to put 9 pounds in every pocket on Earth.

Stewie!

I have already placed a safety vote for nidhogg.

Now I have to change my vote or risk being taken out in the first round after waiting 6 weeks for the game to start.

Edit: vote changed to Camilleee

Please, don't anyone else put me in a majority!

Interesting link Gizzer, but none of the players here has that area on their page. Because of the article, it does seem like our Boss may be a younger player.

It actually makes some sense that the class that may have used to be known as Home Economics is now called Foods. In this day and age, Home Economics does seem a bit dated... and I am sure somewhere someone said... if we call it foods, we will get more guys to sign up for it, though even in my school days some guys did sign up for it to meet some young gals.

Hey teacher, I'm back from the bathroom. Isn't recess time coming up in 5 minutes? Sure wish you would ring the bell early, I want to get out to the quad and get a good seat to watch the handball game.

with Bobbi's list, it sort of looks like we could have at least 2 mandatories, with maybe a third one who missed this round (ok, that is three mandatories... but I wanted to give a little benefit for doubt!!!)

Looks like I am stuck in this classroom and missed the greatest handball game of the century between Hard Hand John and Mitsy Susan. Teachers should never be allowed to go to the teachers lounge during class time!

Check the player list, everyone!

ppjones' name has moved to the bottom, even though the round hasn't started. In my experience, that means that he was the Rat, and the Boss opted to fire him.

Krugergirl is definately a mandatory...

And yes, I noticed PPJ's name at the bottom and thought it a bit strange that the night round is not over and only his name is there and not Krugergirl's name too.

I hadn't noticed ppjones name moved to the bottom of the list, so I'm glad you pointed it out, Giz. I've apparently never been in a game where the Rat was inactive in the first round because I'd never seen that happen before. (Not that it couldn't have and no one pointed it out, I guess.) I learn something new every day.
